OXO Good Grips Trigger Ice Cream Scoop

We have been searching for an ice cream scoop like for this ages, and we finally bought this one a few weeks ago. It works perfectly and the spring action is ingenious. We still soak it in a bit of hot water to ensure it glides smoothly through the ice cream to form the perfect scoop!

So after almost a year of owning and using this product, the handle near the scoop snapped the other day whilst I was scooping ice cream. Previously had the thumb press bent on me on one occasion which led me to start pressing on the metal bit higher up the trigger. We always let the ice cream out and soften a bit before we use the scoop dipped in hot water. I am disappointed at the construction of this product and will think twice buying any OXO product in the future. Read more

I've always wanted an ice-scream scoop like this - the perfect ball of ice-cream, made possibly by the magic curvy scrapy thing inside that scrapes the ball of ice cream out, magically and perfectly.
The first time I used it, the magic curvy scrapy thing came unstuck, while I was serving ice cream for guests.
Didn't want to make a fuss in front of them, so finished serving by scooping perfect scoops out with a spoon.
I managed to get the magic curvy scrapy thing back in again, but wonder if that's going to happen every time I use it? Was really expecting this to be a lot more robust - it was just ice cream after all - the product for which it's ostensibly been designed and manufactured to serve. Read more

After searching everywhere for a trigger ice cream scoop, I was overjoyed to find this one. But was very disappointed in the quality. The very first time I used it, the trigger handle bent completely out of shape. The metal is just way too thin. And the ice cream was fairly soft. The rest of the spoon is sturdy enough, but I would not recommend it, especially for the high price.

I have really enjoyed using this ice cream scoop, for both ice cream and also meatballs. It has a very solid grip and the trigger release is firm, but smooth.

I find this scoop okay if your ice cream is on the softer side. The first time I used it on ice cream just out of the freezer and the little lever bent.

Not only does this help with serving up beautiful round scoops of ice-cream, but it is also the perfect size to scoop batter for muffins or cupcakes into a muffin tin! Looks great and works well, would definitely recommend!

I'm delighted by this find. I will never have problems with uneven portions of cupcake or muffin mix again. I'm yet to use this but look forward to it. Very comfortable to hold!! Glad I went for the more expensive scoop. Cheaper ones I have seen look uncomfortable to hold. Thanks Yuppiechef. Happy customer.

This product is extremely expensive so one would think it is efficient.
It is poorly designed as the finger guard does not allow for the scoop to be emptied properly..
The cheapie from Checkers worked better!!
DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT.
I would like my money back, but I suppose that will not happen

I use it for scooping muffin batter. Works better than I expected — the slide/trigger mechanism works well. Overall it feels sturdy (not flimsy and breakable). Light and easy to hold, comfortable to grip. It means I can scoop batter with one hand, even with a baby on my hip :)

I use this scoop to fill my silicone cupcake cases. They are all the same size and it is a time saver. My only regret is that I did not buy this scoop long ago.

As with other Oxo products, this product fits comfortably in your hand. It is sturdy and I am convinced it will not break, no matter how frozen the ice cream may be. It serves a dual purpose - it is a handy measure for scooping the batter into cupcake casings.
