What's the difference between compost and pre-compost?

Pre-compost — which comes out of this nifty machine — is essentially processed food waste that still needs to interact with the naturally occurring microbes in soil or compost heaps to decompose further and become nutrient-rich.

The pre-composting step speeds up the natural decomposition cycle 10-fold. This process usually takes several months so this 5-hour composter saves a lot of time and space.

Care Instructions

Maintain a balanced mix of food waste in the compost bucket by offsetting oily items with absorbent components like bread crusts, pasta leftovers, or rice to achieve a dry, fine pre-compost
To keep your composter at optimal performance, clean it routinely
Make sure your composter is unplugged before cleaning
To wash the exterior of the composter simply wipe it with a damp cloth
If your composter is particularly dirty add a small amount of dish soap to your cleaning process
Use a dry cloth to remove excess moisture

How to feed your garden with what comes out of the composter:

If you have a compost heap at home you can throw the pre-compost directly onto the heap
The pre-compost has no odour and doesn't attract unwanted animals
If mould occurs this is a good sign that decomposition is underway, the mould will disappear after a few days
If you have a worm farm — give it to your worms!
When sprinkling pre-compost amongst your shrubs, remember the following ratio: 1 bucket pre-compost to 3-5 square meters of garden
Note: Do not put pre-compost on your grass

I just love my composter. We live in an area where rotting food waste attracts wildlife so putting my food waste through the composter allows me to recycle the nutrients back into the soil without issues. It's quiet, simple to use, and reduces a few litres of food waste to about a cup of dried pre-compost that I can spread in the garden.

If you live in an area where there is a problem with food waste attracting flies etc. This is for you.

Mine works all the time. In the beginning, I found the talking a bit frustrating but it also tells you when it is finished. And you can switch it off.

I had an issue and the supplier gave me excellent service. I am impressed.

I have tried them all...worm farms, bokashi...outside compost heap. This is the best way to reduce waste, landfill and smelly bins in the kitchen. Between this and recycling you can make a huge difference to your contribution to rubbish.

Yes, the voice prompt is annoying, but fortunately, you can turn it off. I LOVE my composter.

This little composter is a lovely addition to my kitchen. It looks neat and does not take up too much space. There is no smell or noise. It does take a long time to process the compost but fortunately does not use a lot of electricity. (Checked on my usage app). Easy to silence the voice commands if they irritate you.

It is a little expensive but well worth it!

It's a very expensive product. It did its job maybe 5 times and now it just pops open and says the ingredients are too hot. When it worked, it needed a lot of time, not sure the coal our stations burn for this, is worth it.

I am very disappointed with this product. My white elephant, is too expensive to throw it out, but not used at all now.

Received this very expensive product from my children for Christmas... extremely disappointed.

Despite several attempts with finely chopped and bigger waste as well as bigger and smaller volumes of waste it kept jamming the mechanism, stopped and the lid jumped open.
Could not complete a single cycle past drying, never mind composting.

I had the composter now for a few weeks and have the following feedback. It takes on average about 7 to 8 hours to process my food scraps. I use it every 3 to 4 days (before it starts to stink). You end up with a granola-like product when it is completed.

Thank you so much for your feedback, which prompted our customer support team to share some helpful tips with you for preventing the rotten food smell. You mentioned you’re only running your composter every 3- 4 days. Generally, during our summer months, any food that is left out and not kept in the fridge will start to rot and smell after a day or two. After 3-4 days, the food in the bucket will start rotting. Instead of waiting for the bucket to get full, we advise you to run your machine more frequently, daily or every second day with slightly less waste — this should ensure a much happier, smell-free experience.
