Care Instructions

To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not clean the appliance with liquids or immerse it

To clean the vacuum chamber, sealing bar or silicone gasket of any persistent residues, allow the appliance to cool down first and then carefully remove the residues with a damp cloth

It's definitely worth spending a bit more! We tried the cheaper versions of the vacuum sealer, just to return it after the first use. The Severin vacuum sealer is definitely the best with sous vide bag sealing. I use it at least 4 times a week!
It was definitely worth the extra few Rands.

I use my Severin Vacuum Sealer every time I use my sous vide cooker, which is often. It seals the bags I bought with it efficiently and neatly. No mess, no fuss!

Good product, strong vacuum only problem is it don't work on smooth bags.. But if you go on youtube there are video to get past that problem, then you can use smooth bags....

Excellent product. Looks & works great especially if you're keen on sous vide cooking.

Contrary to the box instructions, this sealer works fine with vacuum bags from other brands as long as they are textured (non-textured bags create too much of a seal for the suction to work).

I recommend getting the Taurus rolls on Yuppiechef. They are cheaper than the Severin 50-pack, and will last a lot longer. Read more

Good machine but takes longer than you would expect to vacuum and seal automatically. The top of the bag where it seals needs to be dry or the machine can't seal so I fold down the top of the bag twice before adding anything to it. I was on the lookout for a vacuum sealer and selected this on brand name alone, having owned a Severin stick blender and have come to appreciate the ergonomics of Severin's design.

The one criticism is the lack of detail in the user manual in terms of how to use a Vacuum Sealer which necessitated a visit to Youtube to figure it out.

This product is really good but it seems to only work with the supplied sealing bags. This is massively restrictive to its usefulness and is such a pity.

I would not recommend this product at all, mainly because of the cost of the vacuum bags. R599 for 50 bags. It works out to be R11.98 per bag whereas other vacuum bags are less than R2 a bag.
This Vacuum Sealer will not work with any normal vacuum bag, you will only be able to use Severin bags which are highly costly!

The first one we got sadly did not close properly and so we had to get it replaced. With the second one we discovered it only takes the embossed sous vide bags. This make the unit cost prohibitive if you want to make daily use of the sous vide machine. I would recommend you research your choices. However, saying that, it works wonderfully with the bags supplied which are quite pricey.
