Prettier way of disposing of compost

This is a nice-looking container for compost. I would have preferred it in stainless steel as enamel eventually wears through. The plastic seal on the lid may also be a weak point. The filter on the lid works well – mine has carried on working after rinsing it out for more than 6 months, but is due for replacement now as it has picked up a permanent odour. Overall a nice product.

Love the look of this product and the fact that it lets very little odour escape. My only complaint would be that it was much bigger than I expected! It would help to have it next to something in the photos for size reference.

I had hoped to get this product in the grey colour but after waiting an eternity I relented and ordered the cream version. I find the size to be very practical; any smaller and it would not be sufficient, any bigger and it would be too large to stay on the kitchen counter. The lid comes with a great rubber seal and a filter. This ensures the waste gets enough air but simultaneously prevents odours. Read more

Lovely to look at, but smaller than expected (3L fills up quickly ) and midges still find their way in.
No bad odours though, which is great.

This compost bin looks good on my counter top. The size doesn't bother me but it seems as if something is missing. It needs a removable plastic container on the inside – not a plastic bag. A bag defeats the object of composting. Every time you empty the bin you need to wash the whole thing.

Although this bin does not give off a smell when you throw any kind of peel or food in it, in my opinion can't be called a compost bin as it does not produce any compost as you get the original compost bins that can actually compost product food for you. But I do like it as it is a fancy bin that I can use for a quick throw away of peel when preparing food in the Kitchen and I do use refuse bags in it otherwise this beautiful little bin will not be so beautiful anymore if you have to wash it after every use. A lovely compost bin. The lid is tight fitting and has a carbon filter so no smells or fruit flies. The shape fits better on the counter than my previous round one and it looks so pretty!

Very happy with this - a good size and attractive looking. The lid can be a bit tough to close but I guess that’s a good thing as it locks in all the odours effectively.

I love my new pretty compost bucket! Holds twice as much as my previous "compost bowl", yet is compact due to tall oblong shape, and takes up minimal counter space. Lid has a rubber gasket and fits very snuggly which can be tricky to get on and off in a hurry.
Tip: keep a chopstick inside the tin to scrape out the bottom when emptying on the compost heap.

Handy composting bin to have in the kitchen for peels - saving you schlepping out to your worms / compost bin in the dark or the middle of a cooking frenzy. The carbon filter really keeps the smells in. It comes with one replacement filter — I hope Yuppiechef can source replacements specific to this bin after that! It does get a bit mucky inside and needs a good clean from time to time but using a plastic liner would defeat the purpose, and a paper one would also get manky. Read more

Has to be emptied every day. Fruit flies attracted if not cleaned. The 2 filters received are useless and become flimsy when washed and then don't stay in lid. Waste of money. Better just to purchase small black tub with closed lid.

A "nice to have" product but not very corrosion resistant — it will corrode and leak after a year or two. Just ordered replacement so still worth having.

Was a lot smaller than expected and particularly since it is a 3L unit - when you have a family of 4 I'm not sure it will hold all.. But its well made and sturdy and still early days to have tested the filter etc.

Not cheap for a compost bin, but absolutely stunning in our kitchen. Easy to clean. No smelling. Love it!!!!!!!!

For the first time, I am massively disappointed at a product bought from YuppieChef.
This cute-looking compost bin does not function as expected. The lid is too tight and opening it is difficult, needing both hands when one is likely to be holding some vegetable matter to put into it.
A major issue is that it smells - not sure if there is something wrong with the ventilation and filter?
Also, there is no inner bucket to lift out so the whole bin needs a good wash every time it is emptied - it also seems to grow mould very quickly on the contents, but perhaps that is because I am using it at the coast.
Basically, it does not do the job for me and was a complete waste of over R400. Read more

It looks great and is perfect for organic waste collection! Love having it on display in my kitchen. The only concern is the rubber on the inside of the lid seems a bit flimsy... hoping it will withstand the consistent opening and closing to seal in the smells and keep the bugs away.

The size and looks of this bin is amazing and it really does look better than any other compost bin on my counter.

The seal on the lid snapped and broke after just one month of using it and I have no idea where to get a new seal.
