KitchenCraft Non-Stick Pastry Mat

The mat is nice and big so the counter top stays clean even for rolling out large pastry sheets. It's easy to clean and needs no scrubbing. The circle guides are very handy. It does slip about a bit so needs wedging in place but that's still preferable than having to scrub flour off the worktop.

Love this pastry mat! It works very well - no sticking, easy to clean. I see in another review that someone had trouble with it moving about - this is easily solved by putting a piece of non-slip mat underneath it. The mat is thick enough that the pattern of the non-slip does not transfer to the product being rolled out. (Perhaps Yuppiechef could offer a non-slip mat the same size as the pastry mat). Also, I wasn't keen on rolling it up to store it, so I stuck it to the side of my fridge with magnets. So now it stays flat, and (mostly) out of sight. Read more

This works SOOO well when rolling out fondant and doing 'messy' baking work. It is nice and big, and prevents the whole kitchen from being covered in flour and mess after I am done baking.

A great product, very useful but would be a lot better if it didn't slip. Makes rolling pastry quite tricky.

I am happy with this purchase. Easy to use and easy to clean. Keeps my work surface clean and makes it easy to clean up after baking. Might consider putting it in the deep freezer for a while next time before using it to keep the pastry cold while working with it - especially pastry with real butter.

The Kitchen Craft non - stick pastry mat works superbly for me when I am rolling out any dough.
The circle guides are handy for rolling out the perfect round roti, pita or tortilla.
The large size is good when making the roti, scones etc as you have space to lay them out as you continue to roll the dough.
It is non - stick, flat & easy to store in a draw.

Unfortunately I worked fondant on the wrong side of the mat and some of the markings disappeared, my bad... nonetheless I love my new mat!!!

At first, it was love at first sight- here at last, I thought, was the answer to my baking dreams. But alas, cruel fates have caused me to turn away from my once-loved Kitchen Craft pastry mat, as it now seems to stain my white formica ( i'm cheap-I know) counter-tops if I use it the right way round, and if I flip it over all my fondant comes away with faint blue lines, my biscuits too. The Kitchen Craft Non-Stick Pastry Mat is a must have in any kitchen. It protects the counter tops while kneading dough and cutting scones or biscuits; and is easily cleaned with a soft cloth and warm soapy water. The in-built sizes of cake tins or pizza bases are also very useful to have - no more guessing! The only downside is that it slides around when kneading sticky dough and needs to be anchored down. I recently bought this mat in order to see if it would help with my pastry rolling out skills. I used it to bake a tart pastry shell and found it quite useful. I really struggle to get the size of my pastry correct (i.e. the thickness and circumference) and also the shape. The mat proved to be a good guide and my pastry baked nice and evenly. I also found the fact that it is non stick really great and I could easily roll out and lift my pastry off the mat. I suppose I could live without this product, but it makes baking pastry much easier for me, so I would recommend it. It is a good size and I also used it as a non stick surface for working with phyllo pastry. Although it is quite large, I store it between my fridge and a wall or behind a bookshelf until I need it again. Read more

The pastry mat is wonderful. A real non-stick mat. Even thinly rolled pastry lifts perfectly. Storage is a challenge. How about two little holes in the top, and suction cups to stick it to the side of the fridge?

I bought the pastry mat for myself about a year ago and loved it so much that I just had to buy a second one for one of my loved ones. Pastry doesn't stick to it, it cleans quickly and easy, measurements makes cutting pie dough easier, it does not move around when rolling out pastry... The benefits are endless! Love it!

Theres two problems with this item. The first is that it is non-stick on both sides so it slides all over the work surface whilst rolling out the pastry/dough. The second is the coloured dye for the sizing rings is on the back but when you wipe/wash the back of the mat the dye comes off. Very disappointed.

How Have I Coped Without It!?!

I've seen mats like this used in tutorial videos for cake decorating, but as I had granite kitchen tops I never really worried about it. Then I moved and my kitchen shrank by more than half AND I no longer had the nice tops!
I still didn't think about it until I was shopping for my birthday and the mat popped up - I decided I needed to try it and it was affordable with my birthday vouchers so I chucked it into my basket.
The first time I used it I realised I needed somethig to stop my non-stick mat from slipping around on my wooden table, so I glued a strip of non-slip fabric to the underside and problem solved!
Now I can roll sugar paste on my dining room table and move around three sides of the mat while I do so AND get proper leverage since I can lean down over the table.
As I use the method where I roll the sugar paste onto the roller and then unroll it over the cake I also need to dust the mat lightly with cornstarch to prevent the sugar paste sticking to itself, and the measurements on the mat are a lifesaver!

I have not stopped using the mat since I got it. It is a great size, easy to use and genuinely prevents pastry and fondant from sticking to it with minimal flour / corn flour. The circles are a great guide in assisting with getting the pastry even and round.
It's super easy to clean as well and I would highly recommend this product.

I'm really glad that I purchased this. It makes of pastry and dough a doddle, and keeps the surfaces in my kitchen clean and tidy. After a really hot make and bake, I can take the mat out and remove any lurking flour under the garden tap :). What is best about it is that the lurking flour doesn't land up tucked away in inaccessible cleaning areas. Really recommended.

I love the concept of this, but the reality is disappointing. I have a marble kitchen top, and the mat slides all over the place, so I have to place it on my silicone baking mat.

It is also cumbersome to clean. It needs to be wiped down, as it cannot fit in the sink. This is not ideal, and it is very difficult to rinse off properly under the tap after it has been wiped, without getting water all over the place. Read more

The mat fits over the end of my kitchen island so I can work on dough from three sides. It is easy to clean and big enough so you do not spill flour on the base surface. A very useful item in my kitchen.

Nice measurements and guidance printed at the back. One swipe with a damp cloth at the back and the printing disappears. It leaves you with just a plain plastic mat.
This is a lot of money for a piece of plastic.
