Barrett's Ridge Beer Bread Kit - Olive and Rosemary

Tasty, quite dense but very easy to make!

However, I would probably just DIY beer bread in the future as it is much more economical & I can choose how much Olive & Rosemary I'd like to add.

Barrett's Ridge Beer Bread Kit Olive and Rosemary is very easy to make and it mixes very well with the beer. The flavouring is great and it smells divine. The bread itself tastes great.

I ordered two different flavours of beer bread from Yuppiechef but felt that both of them tasted more or less the same. The garlic bread could have had a more distinct garlic taste, similarly the rosemary didn't really come out in the taste.

Absolutely delicious, with a pleasant herbiness but rather too much salt. Good substantial texture. The price seems very difficult to justify, given that one must still add the cost of the ale & electricity. More than R80 then for a small batter bread... really?!

The simplistic directions that are hastily placed on the little cute bags cannot in any way be correct, unless all I know about the feel, taste, smell and consistency of all sorts of bread, from French to Italian, to Portuguese to home-baked varied types of breads, from wood, oven baked to the regular gas oven or electric oven.
The mix has an unspecified amount of sugar in it that is difficult to escape. There is a smell and flavour that lingers after baking and from your first bite, and I was unable to place the taste. The label says it has baking powder. My first try before taking the whole box to the beach house, resulted in this dense mass that didn't resemble any bread I have ever seen. My oven is excellent. Never failed me. Quite on the contrary. I started experimenting with adding this and that, and reducing the amount of liquid to reduce pre-bake gooey texture. It worked to some extent but the baking aroma was absent, the flavour after taste remained. I would not ever ever recommend this to anyone. My only hope is that I will somehow manage to turn them into "bread sticks" with Portuguese choriço, or whatever in order to resist the impulse to toss the whole lot in waste bin. Read more

Everything was fine about the product. However, the sugar should be left out, as it overpowers the other ingredients, such as the rosemary and olives.

I love beer bread in general but this one is my favourite by far as the flavour is a lot more intense than the other variants. We've made this one before (and it's always been good) but today we mixed about ten roughly chopped kalamata olives into the dough before cooking and it came out AMAZING.

I followed the directions to the tee, however I found the bread to be dense and worst of all, the product was extremely salty. We had a slice and gave the rest to our dogs. I also purchased the garlic and herb beer bread, however I am quite unwilling to try that one, it'll most likely stay in my cupboard. I would not buy this again or recommend it to anyone.
