I bought this kettle to use on my gas stove. It has performed very well so far. It is solidly built and minimalistic in design. I would expect it to serve many years of use. Not Quite So Successful...
My first negative response to a Yuppiechef purchase! I bought this as part of our conversion to a gas hob. FIrst off, it works... Although I like the classic (almost "retro") shape and encapsulated base, I see no reason why the handle and whistle lever should get too hot to hold by hand - which they do - given today's wide choice of materials. Also, the whistle's hinge seems to be a little flimsy. Read more

No-Whistle Kettle
A beautiful kettle, but doesn't whistle. We use it on our slow combustion wood burner in winter and water boils very quickly. It is very stable (doesn't tip over), but do be careful with the handle which we found can get very hot.

Enjoying our new kettle! Whistle isn't as loud as I remember whistling kettles to be, but maybe it seems louder as a child. Good product - would recommend it to my friends and family.
