Yuppiechef Granite Pestle & Mortar, 17cm

I was a bit anxious about ordering this online (I wasn't sure that it would be big enough!). This product has exceeded my expectations, both in terms of size and functionality. It is very heavy and has withstood some hard bashing and muddling without moving! It was very easy to crush garlic and chillies to a paste within seconds. I look forward to using it for many years to come.

This is very good quality and is something that I have always wanted. It is solid and the granite makes it very strong and you get good results. It also looks very cool in my kitchen! I now feel like a "yuppie chef."

It's heavy which helps support when using. Beautifully finished in granite with a Yuppiechef logo underneath. It works well for what ever you want to do in it... crushing, grinding and mixing spices, garlic and olive oil. Love it.

Fantastic quality and sturdy pestle and mortar. Perfect for crushing garlic, making pastes etc. It is very heavy which gives it stability while in use but also makes it a bit difficult to clean.

Robust, not in a fake WWF way, but in the stampeding herd of buffalo sense of the word. It didn't flinch when I pulverized cinnamon with an ease that sincerely surprised me. It's an investment, which far outshines any other pestle and mortar on the market currently, the fluorescent patches in the beautiful granite will enchant your pounding heart. Viva.

The product is everything it promised to be. It is heavy enough not to wobble off the surface after some hectic bashing (as Jamie Oliver would say), and it also looks good. It is made to grind and smash, and I am totally happy with it. It appears to be durable enough to last a lifetime. Thank you.

Its a must have in any kitchen. you do not need to be a chef to learn to use. it makes it much easier to grind both dry and fresh herbs, and it is to wash and store.

I was so surprised by the size of this amazing Pestle & Mortar! I knew it would be a larger size but it is absolutely brilliant! Very much worth the money!

Had this for a few years now, and it is still going strong. It is nigh unbreakable, being made of granite (and it is heavy as a stone too). Indeed, it is far more likely to break other things, and that makes it perfect for grinding up all types of spices, herbs and whatever else you need to pound into a fine paste.

When I was comparing the available pestle and mortars here, this seemed the best choice for size and price. I was very happy when it arrived as it is sturdy and large enough to crush just about any mixture you can imagine. The stone makes it solid and perfect for use without worrying about it flying off the counter.
I love mine.

Great tool to really get more flavour into my cooking. I prefer this to the little spice blenders as you can make things so much finer than the blenders. Also, adding oils etc, makes for amazing marinades which I could not do before.

Only criticism I have, is that mine spins a little. Meaning, there is a little bevel in the middle making it slightly off balance...

Love this product. Have used it several times already to crush spices, make pesto, and even chutneys. It's built to last a lifetime, and more. It's aesthetically pleasing and looks great on the kitchen counter. It is also very heavy. But that's fine with me.

I like that it is polished on the outside, but left unpolished/rough on the inside. It makes it easier to achieve the desired result. I will probably be buying another soon. Seems like this can be passed on as an heirloom.

Really solid mortar, very happy with the "build" quality.

I bought this granite pestle and mortar without proper research, so I only found out after the purchase you have to condition the pestle and mortar.

Thats one hour of grinding to get rid of small stones and seasoning the pestle and mortar, not a fun job.

I've tried mortars & pestles before but they never lasted, as I found them not fit for the task.

And then I purchased this one...ticks off all the boxes: Heavy and sturdy; grinding is a breeze as the rough interior calls for little effort. Indeed a great investment that will no doubt be around for many moons to come.

Just be aware that it has to be 'cured' and 'seasoned' before first use (this can be a laborious task but fortunately required only once). Read more
