I've bought several flasks before but none as good as the Stanley Flask I bought recently. I was skeptical when I was told that it keeps liquids hot for 24 hours. On a recent trip to Mozambique I filled my flask at 3 in the morning - I had the very last cup of coffee that afternoon at 5 (14 hours later!) and had to wait for it to cool down. I bought this flask for a trip to Kruger...you know the deal - coffee and rusks while sitting for hours waiting for animals to turn up at the drinking holes. This is the second Stanley flask that I have now (I drink a lot of tea!). Apart from the fact that it keeps the water hot for a long time, I just love the look of it. It is also extremely sturdy, surviving the roughest of trips.

My Stanley does not keep liquid hot for more than 8 hours. I filled it with boiling water, let it stand for ±10 minutes, empty and fill with freshly boiled water. I filled it at 06:45 and at ±14:30 it was blood warm.

After struggling with so many flasks, we decided to spend a little more and try the Stanley...and trust me...it's worth every cent and more. This flask looks good and keeps water hot for a long time. The ergonomics of the cap are not great, and it's not clear how far to unscrew the cap in order to be able to pour with the cap still on, but otherwise, it's a great flask and I'd recommend it.

The flask is excellent for day trips if you are only making 1 round of drinks, however, it doesn't have a pouring function so you have to take the lid off completely when pouring a cup, meaning heat escapes.

So the 'hot water for 24hrs' only really applies if you don't open it! If you open it several times to make a few cups of tea then the temperature drops dramatically.
