I cook big batches of food at a time (because I have a teenage son that never stops eating) and I used to freeze stews and soups in 1 litre yoghurt containers. The problem with that is, it takes forever to defrost and I'm not always keen on eating the same dish until that container is empty.

Freezing food in Souper Cubes is a game changer. I freeze food overnight, pop the frozen blocks of food out the next day, put them into ziplock bags (that I wash and reuse) and use the Souper Cubes for the next batch of food.

What an innovative product that allows one to save two portions of soup, stew or other dishes by freezing it for later. Perfect for building up a stock of different soups over the winter time.

The freezer upgrade I didn’t know I needed.

I didn't expect to care this much about a freezer container — but here we are.

I bought Souper Cubes because I batch cook and was tired of playing freezer Tetris with random plastic containers and zip bags full of “mystery soup". Everything either leaked, froze into weird shapes, or required a chisel to remove.

These are basically the ice-cube tray version for real food, but solid.

What I love:
• The portions are predictable — 1 cup actually means 1 cup so I can plan meals instead of guessing
• The silicone is thick so it holds its shape when filling (huge difference from flimsy trays)
• Once frozen, the blocks pop out cleanly and stack neatly in freezer bags
• No freezer burn so far, even weeks later
• Perfect for sauces, cooked grains, beans, soup, curry, chopped veg, even leftovers

The underrated benefit: mental load reduction.
I can cook once and assemble meals later instead of committing to eating the same thing for 3 days straight.

Things to know: They do take up a bit of freezer space while freezing, so you need a flat spot temporarily. After that though, they save a ton of space.

My meal prep style is to do big batches of a recipe at the weekend and freeze half for later for quick meals during the week.

The 2-cup size is perfect for a curry/ bolognese portion for two. It's so easy to pop the food out after its frozen and wash ready for the next big batch. I'm so happy with my purchase, I'd love to buy more!
