Product Info
In early 1992, a panel of Scotch whisky experts convened at Riedel's headquarters in Austria to test a range of nineteen different glass shapes.
On the basis of this first selection, Georg Riedel undertook further research with the help of master distillers in Scotland.
This research resulted in a glass that is an elongated thistle shape on a truncated stem. The design incorporates a small, slightly outturned lip which directs the spirit onto the tip of the tongue, where sweetness is perceived, and serves to emphasize the elegant creaminess of top quality single malt whisky.
Recommended for: Single Malt Whisky, Malt Whisky, Whisky.

Introduced in 1986, Vinum was the first machine-made series of glasses in history to be based exclusively on the characteristics of quality, reasonable price and wide distribution.
Vinum has had a permanent impact on the globe's wine glass culture. These glasses have proved to consumers and restaurateurs that the pleasure of consuming wine starts with the glass.
The Vinum collection, developed by Georg Riedel on the principle that the content commands the shape, is the "Vitrum-Vinothek" for every day use.
Vinum is made of over 24% lead crystal.

Fine and elegant
I got these for my boyfriend - a serial whisky drinker. He loves them - they are quite fine and the thistle shape appeals as he is of Scottish descent. They do help with airing the whiskey.

Excellent
I have owned a variety of Riedel glasses for years and have always had a few of these. Still my favourite "go to" glass for everyday drinking and tasting. I also own a few of the Norlan glasses, which while better for nosing whisky, don't get close to the overall experience of the Riedel. In closing, it may be worth noting that I have a serious dislike of traditional thick edged tumblers - love thRead more

Finally — great whisky glasses in SA
I have struggled to find good whisky tasting glasses and finally found these after almost a year of searching online.
These are great for tasting and enjoying whisky. The shape definitely lends itself to providing a better overall tasting experience — I think this is mainly due to the design forcing the whisky onto the tip of your tongue where you perceive the spicy notes of a wh Read more
