Getting more veggies in just got more fun. With the Spiralizer from OXO, you can turn a variety of fruit and veggies into spirals in minutes. The handheld spiralizer has a flat, open blade design, and works best with straight sided veggies that are about 4cm in diameter and not longer than about 15cm. If yours are the wrong shape, simply cut to size, and use the scraps in another dish. Cut the ends of your veggie so that they are flat, and place one flat end against the blade then, exerting a gentle, consistent pressure, twist the vegetable to produce long, even spirals. When your fingers get closer to the blade, use the food pusher cap to finish it off.
- Flat, open blade handheld spiralizer
- Round design works best with straight sided produce of about 4cm in diameter and about 15cm long
- Vegetables like larger sized carrots, marrows and cucumbers work best, because of their shape and harder texture
- Cut awkwardly shaped or sized veggies to size
- The centre core and a couple of centimeters of the produce is left behind - just cut and add to food or save for soups
- Food holder keeps fingers away from the blade when the end gets short
- When you're done, simply clean with running water, or pop the whole thing into the top rack of the dishwasher

This product works well if you use larger than normal straight vegetables, and it is a bit uncomfortable on the wrists, but then it wasn't designed for large quantities just home use.

Wider veg works

I tried using baby marrows but they were not wide enough. I got some spirals out but a lot broke off. Carrots are too hard to turn. Cucumber works well!

I was so looking forward to this product but have been really disappointed.
I've used it on marrows and carrots. The centre core doesn't grip properly, and when turning the marrow, it just "split". Managed to get some small curls, but certainly not long spirals. Tried again with a bigger marrow, with a bit more success, but still not great.
As I got to the end of the marrow, I used the "cap" to push the marrow through, but this also didn't grip and when turning it just fell apart.
Landed up with a lot of wasted veg.

Another one of my favourite Yuppie Chef purchases!!!
Didn't work that great with carrots (think you'll need super size carrots to make it work) but an absolute dream with marrows and cucumber. Even the baby gem squash worked well.
What sold it for me is the fact that there's so little wastage (compared to some other products I've tried).
Nice neat design which takes up very little space in my cupboard.

I could not wait to get my hands on this spiralizer! I've used this product twice, using baby marrow and potatoes.
OXO good grips handheld spiralizer is very user friendly, the blades are nice and sharp, the produce gets spiralized with minimal effort and the product cleans easily.
I would definitely recommend this product.

My husband purchased this spiralizer for me for Christmas - and what a treat! Works well and is easy to use. Get a decent serving of "noodles" for two people from just two baby marrows! Cannot wait to try all bits and bobs - cucumber spirals are great too for a salad.

I recently bought the OXO handheld spiralizer. I chose the OXO brand as I have 2 other OXO products and I am very happy with the quality.
I love using the spiralizer. I found it very easy to spiralize cucumber and baby marrows and the carrots were a bit more difficult. The food looks good and also tastes just as good.

I received this spiralizer for a Secret Santa gift at the end of last year and now buy it for all my friends' birthdays. This little gadget is now used more often than my kettle and toaster (probably combined!). I love it!

This product is too expensive, you can purchase another handheld spiralizer at less than half the price of the Oxo brand, quality might not be the same but it serves the same purpose.

This is a great product if you don't make a lot of veg noodles/spaghetti hence 'Handheld Spiralizer', otherwise you should opt for one of the bench spiralizers. Tip: Always have a old toothbrush handy at your sink when cleaning these sharp gadgets.

This item is very limited in that you can only use vegetables that have a very wide diameter, so the smaller carrots, cucumber and especially the courgettes which is why I bought it (to make courgette spaghetti) cannot be used. The vegetables get stuck to the central core and there is a lot of waste. One doesn't often find very thick veggies of 5cm and more in diameter and therefore it doesn't work well. Read more

This is a great product. Makes perfect spiral veggies easily. Just be sure to use a vegetable that is fat enough (e.g. a skinny carrot won’t work well). I love it!

I bought this after watching the tutorial on Youtube that made it look like it could spiralise just about anything, which perhaps explains my disappointment.
I'd recommend this product only for large soft vegetables like giant marrows or cucumber. If that's what you're after, it works perfectly.
However when I tried to spiralise firmer veg like a sweet potato my hand was almost falling off from the effort and I was getting short broken curls, not long tendrils as one would hope for. It also didn't work well for smaller baby marrows as they are too narrow for the blade.
All in all, if you go through a lot of marrow zoodles in your home this would probably be worth it.

A fairly good product. You kinda need to get the hang of it, but it does work. A trick is to cut your veggies in the center in order to have a better size piece to work through your spiralizer. Easy to store, easy to clean...

Good quality and very durable, easy to clean.
BUT it only works with larger vegetables. I live in Stellenbosch, I went to ALL the grocery shops and no one sells the larger marrows. It doesn't work with small veg at all...it just looks grated. I eventually found a medium sized marrow pack, it works but not that great, there is a lot of waste and minimal spirals....

Perfect little gadget for any kitchen. It obviously won’t work as well if you want to spiralize large quantities of veggies, works well if you want to prepare something for a small family. Also works fine with regular size zucchini - the trick is to keep the veggie centered. So if you start getting small little half-moons, take it out and re-centre.

This product makes it hard work. Even with softer veg you have to carefully apply the right amount of pressure and skins often jam it. It’s fun if you’re doing a small amount but after the 4th marrow it feels like hard work!

I am extremely dissapointed with this product. First of all it was expensive, and second of all it does not work..... unless you get a carrot/zuchini the size of a large cucumber.
I hate it. Absolute waste of money.

The product does not work! Attempted spiralling apples, carrots and some cabbage (for fun).
The results were awful. There was no simple way to make it work, as I believe it should.

I have recently made a huge change in diet, giving up carbohydrates and sugar, much to the dismay of my Italian heritage. Substitutes for a great bowl of pasta are few and far between and buying spiralized vegetables is expensive. The OXO Spiralizer is easy to use and is 100% effective. It delivers perfect spiralized veggies every time. It is also quick to clean and small enough to store away in any drawer or cupboard.

The central core which holds onto the product you want to spiralise doesn't grip at all and is too big. This means that the majority of my carrots and marrows couldn't be used and were completely wasted. Money down the drain unless you are able to purchase much bigger sized vegetables. I tried then with a beetroot but the grip is so poor the beetroot was too hard to do anything with. Would not recommend this product to anyone. Read more
