After 10 years of baking, these rich, decadent cakes have earned a loyal following, with real butter, sunny South African dried fruit, generous splashes of brandy and heaps of love in every slice.

• Ingredients: Butter, pitted dates, fruit cake mix, almonds, golden sultanas, muscovado sugar, eggs, brandy, vanilla essence, green cherries, red cherries, flour, salt, cinnamon, and figs

• Wrap your cake in baking paper, then in cling wrap, and store it in an airtight container
• Keep it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight
• Avoid wrapping the cake directly in foil, as the fruit acids may react with the metal
• Stored correctly, your fruitcake will stay moist and delicious for months
• Cake will last for up to three years in its vacuum sealed packaging

Freezing instructions:

• Fruit cake freezes exceptionally well for up to 3 months
• For the best flavour, allow the cake to mature before freezing, as the ageing process pauses while frozen
• Thaw completely at room temperature before serving
