There are some foods that don't benefit from refrigeration, but prefer that 'cool dark place' that all the labels speak about. Onions and potatoes, for example, are much better suited to storage in the pantry, but do not benefit from too much light (or they deteriorate more quickly). These hessian bags are designed to be a dark, breathable place to store onions and potatoes.

It's so full of layers

It brings tears to our eyes to see our onions so safe, we have not seen one onion running away, or have a single onion kidnapped since we started keeping them in the Kitchen Kraft Natural Element Hessian Preserving Bag. Speaking of kidnapping, the bag is just big enough to pull over someone's head for those "Taken" situations. The additional benefit of having a couple of onions in the bag tears up the victim's eyes and adds to the enjoyment of being kidnapped. It also has handy drawstring detail that keeps the bag safely closed.
As for the design and manufacturing, it really feels and looks like a quality product with wooden beads completing the look. Stitching is neatly completed and seems to be of a high quality. This product works best in a rustic, or cottage styled kitchen as the product is a bit cluttered for a minimalist look, but if applied correctly it adds to your vegetable storage. We have embarked on a low carb diet, so we didn't pair our onion bag up with a potato bag, which would have displayed nicely. Read more

Magic in a bag

What can I say its truly magic in a bag... I've always had a problem storing my potatoes, they either begin to sprout or turn green. I was skeptical at first when I received my bag, but now I'm totally chuffed.
The bag is great looking, love the draw string detail. Lovely addition to my kitchen. Will be buying the onion one next.

I first ordered the onion bag. It worked so well that I then ordered the potato bag. I was overseas for a month and my onions were still fresh on my return. Amazing product! I am ordering an extra set to take overseas to my sister in law!

Great idea

I like the potato bag, however not happy that it cannot be washed. Instructions says wipe clean. Inevitable to have a rotten potato at some point. How do I get it clean?

I can't believe how effective this bag is. I placed my onions in it and used it for a few weeks before leaving on holiday. I was away a full month and when I returned the remaining onions were still fresh!! It extended the life of the onions by over 200%. Well worth the investment!

Love these little veggie bags... We renovated our beach cottage and space was limited so had to forfeit a vegetable cupboard... These are just perfect as they add to the cottagey feel and are pretty easy on the eye. Added bonus is they actually do keep the potatoes and onions fresh, which I wasn't too sure about with the coastal air... Now just to source the one that says "vegetables" as it seems you can only get the potato and onion bags... :( Read more

It does what is says on the bag - it stores onions. It keeps them cool, in the dark and in a breathable environment. Its what your onions want. Just watch out, you'll be after the potato one too.

This bag is definitely a must for your potatoes. It stays fresh for so much longer. It is also a nice decorative feature to place on a kitchen counter or shelf. Handy drawstring, which you can also use to hang in the kitchen on a hook.

Small, but does the job

I've had the Vegetable bag for over a year now and it still looks as good as new. It looks as it does in the pictures but is smaller than I imagined. It fits about 6-7 onions/gem squashes, 1 butternut/sweet potato and at a push, another butternut/sweet potato depending on how big it is. I haven't necessarily noticed my veggies lasting longer in it, but it meets my storage needs well enough.

I feel that the onion bag should be cheaper than the potato bag as it is much smaller and will therefore take less to make.

I bought this product as I was tired of having potatoes and onions go off.
It is made of a strong and sturdy material, but my goodness, cannot qualify as a vegetable bag! I was expecting something that my 3kg bag of onions can go into, this bag can fit only a large butternut! How ridiculous. Do not waste your money!!

Sturdy and looks good in the kitchen. However, I would recommend that the onion bag be the same size as the potato bag. We buy in bulk and cannot fit all our onions in the bag.
