In the past week I have made perfect rice with a touch of a button, the best butter chicken curry that I have ever eaten, eggs, roast chicken, potato mash and even a delicious cheesecake that is better than the one from my local Spar! Even my mother in law raved about it!

OMW! So happy we got this, it is amazing! My first dish was a take on a pilaf, everything cooked perfectly in 13 minutes. I was nervous about doing rice, but it was perfect. It's easy to cook on a normal counter top and the "saute" setting makes it quick and easy to brown things before cooking. And it is well insulated so you don't get hot while cooking.

Haven't used it to its full potential yet, we've only used it about 5 times to make chicken, rice, vegetables and a chicken dish. So far, so good. It's easy to clean and I love that everything can be made with one pot to reduce the amount of dishes accumulated. Everything cooks so fast as well.

Smart Cooker; have used its steam & slow functions. When steam cooking, it is not quite as quick as advertised - it is good to keep in mind that the warming up time is not included in steam time, and this can delay your party by a glass of chardonnay or two.

This is an AMAZING POT! My husband is even enjoying the Instant Pot and has been cooking non-stop! He cooked from Macaroni and cheese to Brisket to mash!! I will recommend to EVERYONE!!! A must have!!!!

I bought this pot because of its versatility and I have not been disappointed. I have never used a pressure cooker before but my sister always raved about them. Now that I have used this pot I understand why. This pot is easy to use and there is lots of help and recipes on the internet. I bought the InstantPot on a recommendation from a friend in the UK. I have to say my first experience with it was very successful. The sauté feature gets properly hot and the rest of the pressure cooker experience was exactly as I'd experienced watching the umpteen online videos about how to use the pot.

I would recommend watching a few videos or properly reading the instructions otherwise you might miss some small detail and affect your experience.

Amazingly functional.

So easy to make delicious homemade yoghurt. Perfect rice and single pot meals.

Vegetable broth is so easy. Throw in the veg add water, slow cook for 8 hours.

I bought the Instant Pot because my son recommended it, and I want to be able to make easy stews and soups in winter. I am of the "hate to cook" contingent.

Thus far I have cooked some mielies (easy), soup (easy and delicious because the flavours seem much nicer than in a normal pot) and a beef stew (much more complex and time consuming than I had imagined, but I learned a lot about WHY one does all these steps).

Having been nervous of a normal pressure cooker since the day many years ago, when my mother managed to explode dinner onto the ceiling, I am impressed with the safety and ease of using this machine.

I have not yet been adventurous (cheesecake or roasting or slow cooking) but I am very pleased with my purchase.
The quality of the appliance is excellent, proving that it is good value despite being more expensive than other electric pressure cookers.

I am looking forward to trying the coconut fish curry tomorrow!

One day you have a kitchen full of okay-ish magafters and the next... Instant Pot moves in. Suddenly half your old appliances are obsolete and you magically turn into a yogurt-making, bread-baking talk about town.
Okay, we didn't. But we could, now that we own Instant Pot. It is a brilliant pressure cooker, slow cooker, sauté-er, warmer and rice cooker (which always used to burn in our house, before Instant Pot showed up).
It does what it promises - and it can do more, if only you would get your life in order and become the yogurt-making type. But in the meantime it facilitates quick, delicious, problem-free meals.
AND it de-clutters your kitchen, as you get rid of all the appliances it replaced. Read more

What a brilliant addition to my kitchen. Makes cooking a breeze and adds fantastic flavour to our food. Tried the roast as soon as it arrived and I was very impressed with the results. I've only done 2 things in it, but this is amazing. Makes perfect yoghurt, have made it twice. Used the pressure cooker to do lamb shanks and they were tasty and fell off the bone. Well worth the purchase instead of having to buy a multitude of appliances.

This is an excellent product and I would highly recommend it. It is so much easier and safer than the old fashioned pressure cookers. This particular model can also sauté (brown) the food which is a huge advantage. I cant wait for the bigger model and more accessories to become available in SA.

Awesome product! I bought this mainly on the basis of all the positive hype surrounding it. After using it for a while now, I can say that every positive review you will see is justified.

This pot makes cooking so much easier, from stews, curries, even yogurt. I tried my first batch of yogurt and it came out perfect, even better than anything you’d find in a store.

Love this pot - took a while to learn though: first lamb stew ended up as soup (left it too long!). Also not used to the fact that the pot is silent! No hissing sounds such as with my old pressure cooker - wondered if it was working or not - but it was! Rice was a dream - probably first time in my life I got the rice just right!!

I have just had my first attempt and it turned out superbly. I do admit that I did a lot of background reading and investigated a lot of tips on "How To" before starting, even though I have used a standard type pressure cooker for many years. My uncertainty when faced with my "Boeing 747" control panel was a bit overwhelming, but the experience has left me feeling empowered and ready to tackle all recipes related to Instant Pot/Pressure/Slow cooker use. Takes time to get used to, and found that the number of meals that can be prepared are somewhat limited - requires water.
BUT it saves a tremendous amount of personal time, i.e. attending to the cooking process. Once the stuff is inside it is almost fire and forget...
The result is also the same every time.
Typical total cooking time? About 25%-30% quicker.
According to a quick and rough test, it may save more than 50% electrical power compared to an induction stove that CLAIMS a 50% saving in electricity!

The Instant Pot takes the fear out of using a Pressure Cooker.

I had been toying with the idea of buying an electric pressure cooker for a while, and when a friend told me about the Instant Pot, I placed my order immediately. The first thing I made was a stew. It was so easy and delicious. I've since made more stews, lamb shanks, soups, bolognese sauce and porridge. It is a huge time saver. I can't imagine ever cooking a stew on the stove, or in the oven again.
It's the best thing I've bought in a long time.
I raved about it so much, that my sister in law asked to borrow it when I went away. My brother was very anti buying another "gadget". Anyway, he tried it, and immediately wanted one, and has since bought one, and uses it most days.

The instant pot cooks rice perfectly. Cheaper cuts of meat can be used as it becomes so tender when using the pressure cooker function, then it keeps the food warm until you are ready. You can then use the saute function if you wish to thicken the sauce.
Keep it on your countertop not in a cupboard, then you will be sure to make the most use of it.

I've been waiting for the InstantPot to be back in stock for quite a while now and I am not at all disappointed.

The first thing I made was "baked" sweet potatoes along with Lamb shank. Both cooked in this pot. It was fantastic. I've also used it to meal prep my chicken for the week.

The level of devotion people have for their instant pot seemed a little weird to me until I tried it for myself. After owning a Midea Instachef (a great beginner pressure cooker as well) hubby and I spoiled ourselves with an instant pot for early christmas. And wow, what an upgrade!
The inner pot cleans easily and the options are much more customisable. Love love love my instant pot and once you go IP you don't go back.
Only reason it loses one star is that it is more finicky about sufficient liquid than my Midea which causes meals like biryani and tomato pasta to burn at the bottom which can be very annoying. No problem though, as I just use my Midea non-stick inner pot for that.

I really recommend getting the glass top lid if you want to use the slow cook function which allows the food to breathe a bit. Btw, slow cook function is very very good! Read more

The Instant Pot will save you loads of time. You can prepare a healthy meal in the fraction of the time it would take you with a normal pot. We like that you do not have to keep an eye on it. In less than a month, ours has become indispensable.

Far more versatile and flexible than any previous Slow or Multi-Cooker we’ve used, it’s very well made, with easy-to-read labels and a large LED display giving clear prompts.

The manual makes learning to use it easy and successful. The downloadable free Android / iOS recipe app is also very well written making it dead easy to search by meal types, authors, ingredients or dishes. Doing an internet Google search on Instant Pot produces a flood of ideas, videos and recipes, showing just how popular it is worldwide. It’s gone viral!

So far the list of successes include stews from some challenging cuts like oxtail, green mealies, popcorn, oats (both rolled and steel cut), polenta, soups, stocks, bolognese, a Christmas gammon, rice, curries and yoghurt.

The thing which still takes us by surprise is the very effective and convenient pressure cooking function. That, together with its sauté capability, make it far more useful (and unexpectedly fast and flavourful) for many dishes.

Still new to the Instant Pot so slightly reserved still.. but oh my, because one can 'brown' in the same pot, then carry on to pressure cook or slow cook... already thrilled! I'm still on the learning curve having never used a pressure cooker before but the functions of the Instant Pot are amazing. I found the YouTube videos online the most helpful in learning the basics and providing recipes etc. There's a ton of stuff out there! I do feel, though, that it would have been helpful if we were told beforehand that it would be convenient to buy extra sealing rings so as not to transfer food smells from stew to cake for instance. Also, the instruction booklet says to remove all sticky labels but don't tell you that the one on the lid should be left alone. I removed mine and it left an awful sticky residue ... if you have encountered this problem a lot of patience, fly spray and rubbing with sugar clears it all off eventually. That being said, I think this is the best invention since sliced bread and can't wait to continue experimenting. Well worth the money, but I do recommend extra sealing rings, a steamer basket and an extra inner pot just to make life even easier. Read more

Received my pot last week and so far I have used the pressure cooker, saute and slow cooker options! Very easy to use and love the fact that in one pot I can do all of that! The old pressure cooker and slow cooker is out the door and from now on my Instant Pot will have a special place in the kitchen!

It's an absolute must have for small kitchens. It will take up some space but you can use it for many things. I use it to cook many things such as stew, rice, steam food,etc. It has made many things convenient for me, so I will definitely recommend this for those interested in purchasing it.

So far very impressed with my Instant Pot. The recipe book that it comes with has limited recipes so I will need to spend a bit of time on the Internet to search for recipes to try. But the joy of making rice in 3 mins (plus a ten min rest) is just marvelous.

This pot is amazing. I have cooked soup, stews, curries, risotto, roasts and still experimenting. I cook with the Instant pot almost as much as I do on my stove. Probably use it 3-4 times a week.
NB. Buy the glass lid - much easier when you are slow cooking and sautéing.

Love, love, love this product. It's a bit more expensive than most slow cookers / pressure cookers but the versatility is great plus there are so many recipes available online for the instant pot. During the summer months it also keeps your kitchen cool because this appliance doesn't generate as much heat as a stove would. Great for cooking rice, legumes, stews, etc. Made a gumbo and it was amazing. Love that you can saute and slow cook / pressure cook in the same pot. Getting the silicone lid with this is handy if you want to pop leftovers in the fridge and you can pop the inner pot in the dishwasher, making clean up a breeze. I will be getting the ceramic bowl and glass lid as well. Read more

I used it last night for the first time! I was completely amazed how perfect the texture of the rice and lentils was - and how one cup of dry lentils seemed like the normal 2 cups I cooked on the stove! No worries about too dry or not cooked enough! The ratio is 1:2 (one cup of rice / 2 cups of water). I will be buying a second one!

The absolute best feature about this item is that it shows BURN on the screen if the liquid has run out especially during pressure cooking. Cooking is a breeze from sauteing to simmering to pressure cooking all in one pot. Recently i started making baby food & have to admit that this appliance has revolutionized the cooking of wholesome meals for babies. I am totally chaffed ☺

Without doubt the most useful kitchen appliance I have ever had (and I've had many!). I use my Instant Pot EVERY DAY and even take it along on self-catering holidays. I am so blown away by it, I have bought two more as gifts. I use the saute function most, but the pressure cooking function for cooking chickpeas and dried legumes from dry is amazingly useful and the yoghurt function effortlessly makes the finest yoghurt in the whole wide world. Unreservedly recommended - if you only have one appliance in your kitchen, make it this one. If you have space for another, add an Air Fryer and you are all set - you don't even need a stove. I bought the smaller InstantPot years ago and loved it, but I like to cook in bulk, so it made sense to upgrade to the bigger version. This is the best pressure cooker ever, and the saute and slow cooker functions are also great. There are also lots of resources online dedicated to the InstantPot, as it has a huge fan base, deservedly so.

Great addition to my kitchen. Lots of settings and options. Just wish the glass lid came along in the box for the price. The heating element stays hot for long, so you have to be super careful when scooping out the food from the pot.

I have always had a pressure cooker and have been looking at buying an Instant Pot for at least 18 months! Finally made the decision and my Instant Pot was delivered about 2 weeks ago. It is definitely one of my best purchases ever. I have used it at least half a dozen times already. Perfect slow cooked lamb shank, beef ragu and soups. Couldn't be happier!!

I inherited my Mum's 60+ year old Tedelex pressure cooker which worked well, until the seal gave problems, and there were no replacements. So it sat in the cupboard for years, mainly for sentimental reasons.
Then I saw your newsletter advertising the new 8 liter instant pot, and I was hooked. As we are only 3 in our family I ordered the smaller version, and how I love it. It talks to me, whistles at me, cooks for me, and turns me into a gourmet cook, for certain things. One small criticism, I would have liked a recipe in the booklet on how to make Yoghurt using the hot pot.
I don't think any kitchen should be without one. I love mine and use it often. :) Read more

So I bought this to get dinner on the table faster and it has definitely helped with that. I've made curry, lamb shanks and peanuts in the shell so far and all have worked well. I like that you don't have to add as much water as with a regular pressure cooker and there is no sound of escaping steam while in use (only have venting steam as the pressure drops after use). Also, you can barely smell what's cooking while the pressure mode is engaged. Even though you can find recipes online, what I've realised is that you have to play around to see what temperature and pressure settings work best for you and your recipe. My only gripes are that the inner pot spins when you stir the food but I've seen some hacks that use a bulldog/binder type clip to hold it in place. And the inner pot also doesn't have a handle for you to hold when hot. Also, the silicone ring tends to hold onto smells a bit. Just beware that although the unit is quite light it does have a big countertop footprint. Read more

I was a bit sceptical (and intimidated) at first, but after watching a few YouTubes on how to use the Instant Pot it was quite a breeze. As soon as you understand the basic functionality of this appliance, it's super simple to whip up some fantastic meals. It's also very easy to clean. Would definitely recommend it.

I was toying with the idea of an instant pot for a while and eventually caved - apart from my air fryer, this is the best kitchen appliance ever!

Between the saute and pressure cook function, there's almost no need to use the stove anymore - and at lightning speed before loadshedding.

The product is pleasant to use, solid and fulfils the purpose for which it was bought, namely, the uncoated and hygienic interior. The pressure cook function is excellent and I like the mounts for the lid which are used as necessary during the cooking function. Pity that some of the accessories I.e for layered cooking are not available. The cooking times prescribed verge on the ridiculous, as 4 minutes for a whole potato. I steam mine go at least 30. As there are no proper instructions one has to navigate entirely with knowledge acquired previously or hope that one's own creativity will succeed. Read more
