What is Payflex?
Payflex is a convenient Buy Now Pay Later payment method that allows you to purchase what you love interest-free and pay for it over time. With Payflex, you can split your purchase into interest-free installment plans (such as pay in two, three, or four installments).
How do I sign up for Payflex?
To apply for a Payflex account, you will need to meet the following criteria:
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- Have a valid South African ID.
To Register:
- Download the Payflex App from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
- Create an account using your first name, surname, ID number, and mobile number.
- Verify your profile using the One-Time PIN (OTP) sent to your mobile.
- Link a valid credit or debit card to your profile to complete the 90-second setup.
Note: During registration, Payflex performs a quick "soft check" to determine your spending limit. This check does not impact your actual credit score.
How do I pay with Payflex at Yuppiechef?
- Please note that Payflex is currently only available for purchases made in-store at physical Yuppiechef retail locations.
- To complete your payment using Payflex at the counter, simply follow these steps:
- Let the sales assistant know you would like to pay using Payflex.
- The assistant will ring up your items and route the transaction to the card terminal, which will display a unique QR code on its screen.
- Open the mauve Payflex App on your smartphone and scan the QR code displayed on the card machine.
- On your mobile screen, choose your preferred payment option (such as pay in two, three, or four installments).
- Carefully review your scheduled installment dates and repayment amounts, toggle your acceptance of the terms, and complete the transaction.
- Once your app confirms the successful payment, the checkout process is complete and you are good to go!
What is the "Heavy Basket" feature?
If you are purchasing premium items that exceed your approved Payflex spending limit, you can still complete the checkout using the Heavy Basket feature!
- This feature automatically adjusts your first payment (made on the day of purchase) to be larger to cover the portion exceeding your credit limit.
- Your remaining installments will stay within your standard approved limit.
What happens if I need to return something I bought?
The Yuppiechef returns process remains unchanged. If you need to make a return, you're still able to return the item in person to one of our stores, across South Africa. If a refund needs to be issued for a purchase made from your Payflex account, it can either be refunded to that same account, or you can opt to receive a Yuppiechef voucher immediately in-store.
Can I change my installment plan after making a purchase?
No, payment plans are fixed and cannot be altered once accepted. Additionally, please note that for "pay in four" plans, installments occur every two weeks rather than monthly, so be sure to budget accordingly for the bi-weekly debit dates.
