I had to replace my 23 year old German vacuum cleaner - serious stress!! I prefer to save for a quality item rather than buy something cheap. The Swiss Robuster 2200W is amazing - excellent suction, zoots around the carpets and is surprisingly quiet. The pet hair remover attachment is brilliant - no pets, but I have very long hair. Impressed
Design: a little clunky compared to similar brands, however, what it lacks in the finish it makes up for in performance. Tends to hook around corners but wheels and chord functionalty are of good quality. Overall the Vacuum does not have a cheap feel.
Power: For its price range, this vacuum is absolutely value for money. It has managed to clean the short and long carpets in the house, the tiles and the wooden floors with ease. It has a varied power suction and even on its lowest setting, you can see the dust being sucked up - most impressive aspect by far. For a vacuum with such power, it is surprisingly quiet. Previous uprights I owned were very loud, making the whole experience of vacuuming rather unpleasant.
Pet/Human hair: having very long hair and pets, the vacuum holds up well and definitely gets all the hair off of upholstery and carpets, especially when you use the pet hair attachment - very handy indeed.
Cleaning the cleaner: Because I wanted to move away from using vacuum bags, this vacuum fit the bill. The Cylinder design is relatively straightforward to clean - however, I have resorted to cleaning it after every 2nd or 3rd use to prevent any dust build up on the plastic. As with most vacuum cleaners - this is the least fun part but ensures a longer life span.

Very powerful but really quiet too. The dog hair brush works amazingly. Easy to clean and bagless which is great.
Only complaint is that there is no attachment for the dog brush and crevice cleaner which is unusual. Even cheaper vacuums have a place for all attachments.

I've been using the Robuster for almost 2 weeks now and I'm impressed!
I have 12 rescued dachshunds and 6 cats so one of my reasons for choosing the Robuster was the K9 attachment. I've tried different vacuum cleaners to remove pet hair and NONE of them come close to this one. The K9 attachment removes pet hair from chairs easily and quickly.
Another big plus is how easy it is to clean, no fiddling with dusty vacuum bags. Just remove the cylinder, hold it over the dustbin and pop it open. After rinsing the unit and cleaning the sponge filter, I just leave them out in the sun to dry - it couldn't be easier.
The only complaint that I have is that I'm starting to get arthritis in my hands and I found the pipe a little heavy, but that is a minor problem that I'm happy to put up with because this cleaner is so good.
The Robuster is definitely worth the 5 stars I gave it. Read more

I am really happy with my new vacuum cleaner. It has wonderful suction and has taken an amazing amount of dust out of my carpets, and there is no dusty smell while vacuuming. It seems well made with well fitting connections.
So far it is easily the best vacuum cleaner that I have owned!

Purchased about 5 months ago. I vacuumed some dust from a painter who was sanding my wall. This was a mistake as afterwards I read fine print which says: do not vacuum ash, cement dust. Since doing this once,& after cleaning the filters, it does not suck well at all. I think this becomes an expensive vacuum cleaner as you need to replace 1 filter 2 x year, and the other filter 1 x year, so the vacuum cleaner will cost you approx R500 a year (currently & more as prices go up), just to maintain annually and it's fiddly in that you need to be careful not to vacuum up certain things. My last vacuum cleaner had a material bag, that I used to just empty & never replaced in 10 years. I bought the Swiss cleaner based on the excellent reviews. I am so surprised that other reviewers think this is a good product, based on the limitations and the unavailability and expense of the filters that you constantly need to replace. I'm hoping that when I replace the filters which are unavailable until the end of June, it will work again. Maybe I got a dud one? As it mostly gets 5* by other customers. Read more

We pride ourselves in keeping our carpeted apartment clean but we had NO idea how dirty it truly was before using this guy. We have a long haired kitty so it’s really an amazing buy, especially with the additional K9 pet nozzle. Really had to push hard on the handle when the setting was on high as it sucks so hard!

This vacuum cleaner is amazing. I have a pug and needed a strong one to remove all the dog hair. It works great and is made of good swiss quality. The k9 brush only works well if you use it on full power. Would definitely recommend this one!

This machine is well made and well assembled.
It feels like quality, and it's relatively quiet for the suction power it produces. It comes with some neat extras.
The size of the dirt trap is a real bonus, it's able to hold a lot before you need to empty it.
Compared to a German brand small vacuum cleaner I recently replaced with this one, This Swiss machine is definite value for money.
I saw a few reviews where people mentioned the wheels get stuck going around a corner/through a doorway - this is a real thing, but it amuses me that I had read about it and thought "what a strange comment" and then pulling on the thing after I'd bought it thinking "what the blixm.... .... oooooohhh" ;-p Read more

I recently bought this Swiss Robuster Cylinder vacuum cleaner after having a string of disasters with other machines for the past 10 to 15 years. It is sturdily constructed, easy to operate and clean, and the suction power is incredible. What's more, it is the quietest machine I have ever used - considering its 2200W power. Everything about it speaks quality. The carpets in my one bedroom flat are old and need replacing, but it was amazing what this vacuum cleaner sucked out of them! The only drawback might be the small cylinder, but that forces one to clean it regularly. I have even used it outside, sucking up the seeds from a tree next to the pool. Works very well for a really reasonable price. The pet hair remover is a little noisy, but it definitely works a treat for getting hair out of couches and carpets. It's also really easy to empty the 'tank', and the filters definitely seem to be doing their job.
Only downside is that while I don't necessarily doubt that the motor is indeed 2200W, it actually sucks more like another, bigger brands 1800W vacuum cleaner. I suspect this is due to some gaps in the fittings and whatnot. Not a biggie though, as it still has plenty of oomph, especially for the pricetag. Read more

This vacuum is compact and has a really strong suction. It literally sucked to our tiles.

The vacuum is very solid and has strong suction power. General vacuum head feels a little too "plastic" and may chip or break in one year. Love the suction power that can be changed. One big set back is the cord is not 8m! Much much shorter, would guess maybe 2.5m.

I purchased this product just before Lockdown, I have 2 maine coon cats and needed something that would clean with no issues, the first few times the suction was good. Now we are having endless issues where suction is poor (we have cleaned & cleaned the filter etc. the other issue now is that it overheats and switches off, after about an 1hr it switches on again but only last about 1/2 hr. We spend more time trying to clean this machine. I also find the hose a little too short.
I would return this item if I could but unfortunately threw the box away :( We have now gone back to using our old vacuum cleaner. Read more

I didn't find the suction as good as it should be with the advertised wattage. Especially with the normal floor cleaner attached.
The pet hair attachment lasted one vacuum use only. It then broke and fell in many pieces and I was unable to put it together again.

In my opinion Miele vacuum cleaners have always been the very best. This machine costs more than half the price and does the job just as well. Robust, with powerful suction, easy to clean and noise level is fine. The plastic barrel that houses the filter may in time become brittle and I’m cautious when opening and closing it but this is such a brilliant machine and I highly recommend it. Would be great if it had a separate crevice and brush attachment. Read more

It might be bagless, but it has a number of filters that require frequent cleaning and replacement. $$$ The lid opens only 90 degrees, so emptying is tricky and often messy, and the dirt clogged in the base falls out all over you, your shoes and the floor (so you have to vacuum again, clean your shoes and have a shower). Tapping the unit dislodges only some of the clogged dirt, leaving plenty to ruin your clean floor and your day. The bristles wear down almost instantly, so say "hello" to scratched floors. Even when the bristles are new, the clip engaging them releases regularly...so...scratched floors anyway. And that clip catches on everything. The suction is such that you wind up pushing dirt around in front of the cleaner head and not actually sucking it up. Rather get a cheaper make for similarly mediocre, if not better, performance or shell out the bucks and get something which actually does the job. Especially if you have pets. Read more

Unfortunately, after 1.5 of an excellent job, the vacuum cleaner stopped working properly. When you switch it on, it starts sucking then the motor significantly reduces power and almost don't suck, then rounds jump again and after a few seconds it even switches off. For R2500 it's unacceptable quality. My previous Hoover worked 15 years(!) being a simple "bag" vacuum. Swiss Robuster should have even better reliability since it doesn't work being overloaded by dust (like a bagged vacuum). I'm disappointed. Read more
