It's light, compact and easy to pull out when you need it - the hand mixer is the easy to forget but useful cousin of the stand mixer. There when all you need to do is whip up some cream or beat eggs, this set also comes with dough hooks and a blender foot, making it doubling useful.

Light and easy to operate. And it's much quieter than any of the hand mixers I've had in the past, which my family appreciates in an open plan kitchen-family room setup. Whips up cream and egg whites in half the time. I've made the lightest, fluffiest buttercream icing using this hand mixer, thanks to the wire whisk attachments.

Having had a much older model Bosch hand mixer for almost 40 years I can point out the good and the bad with this model now that I have been using it for a few months.
1. The glossy black body does look very nice, but whether it's right for a kitchen? I have my doubts. Very difficult to keep clean and develops fine scratches no matter how carefully you clean it, white would have been better.
2. The speed control switch: speeds 2 and 4 are pretty much pointless to me; 1, 2 and 3 are practically the same, maybe the torque increases minimally, and 4 makes a bit more noise but no apparent speed increase. Maybe the Bosch engineers could rethink the circuitry and make it a simple 3-speed unit - 5 speeds so close together is just silly overengineering and the pulse position is just a useless affectation. Also, the horizontal switch action is annoying and far too light on the action, making it easy to bump back to ON as you put it down, flinging whatever is on the beaters everywhere. Vertical would have been more logical like the older models.
3. The plastic drive ends of the beaters are not my favourite, I just know the plastic will become brittle and fail in a few years. The beaters on my old unit were all metal, so I'm not a fan - even with the knobs on.
4. As for power - there is plenty of it - creams butter and sugar together without any effort whatsoever and whips cream in seconds, so there I'm a fan. For as long as the plastic beater bits last, I have no doubt that it will be a worthwhile purchase.
Besides the nasty high gloss black plastic, silly speed control switch and plastic bits on the beaters, would I recommend it?
Yes, definitely. A powerful machine that does the job, you just need to treat the switch as 3-speed and be careful when you put the unit down not to accidentally flick the switch back on.
If Bosch sorts out that awful speed switch and maybe offers a white version, they'll have an unbeatable winner. Other than that I am quite satisfied with the unit. Read more

This is the best hand mixer I've ever owned! It's a treat to use. It's powerful, but quiet and whips eggs white to a fine meringue in no time. I wish I hadn't waited so long to buy this....

I have only owned the Bosch Hand Mixer for a week or so and I am loving every minute of it! It is silent, fast and easy to use and I have already made cookies, flapjacks and scones with it. Can't wait to use it again!

This hand mixer is light weight and easy to use. It is also the quietest hand mixer I have ever owned. The speed selections offer good variables. Really appreciate the dough hook attachments.

Great machine! Its 500W motor makes light work of creaming butter, whisking a batter, or kneading dough. And you you can listen to music while you do it - it's that quiet. Get one.

This hand mixer is just fabulous! Not only is it pretty good looking for a hand mixer, it's also super quiet and powerful! I even love the way it can stand up on its own when you put it down - no need to try balance it on the bowl edge! Just love it!

Quiet, easy to use and to clean.
Have tried many different recipes using this hand mixer. So versatile and durable, pretty robust too as I have accidentally dropped this a few times – obviously best not to do this of course.

Great speed settings, most beaters are too fast on first setting. Good quality, big, comfortable open handle. Closed handle beaters are not nice to hold.

I'm loving new Bosch Hand Mixer. It is so quiet when using it and comfortable to hold. I have only used it a few times since getting it but already I'm happy I bought it.

It whipped a shiny perfect meringue! It’s quiet, too. The only thing I don’t like about this product is the position of the cable in the unit, it sits at its bottom so you cannot make the mixer stand while working. But otherwise, I am happy with the product.

It's a good mixer, it mixes things well and it's a lot easier than mixing things by hand.
It looks like there are attachments one can buy for it (There's an additional "port" on the bottom of the thing), so it may be a viable alternative to something more expensive like a complete food processor or a more extensive mixer kit.

This has been a great edition. It has sturdy blades and is easy to use. Sadly, there isn't a huge difference in speed between the slowest and fastest speeds — as that can be helpful for baking. It does the trick and looks good. I would buy it again for all general mixing purposes.
