Masa harina is a unique kind of flour made from maize that has been cooked in lime water through a process called Nixtamalization, invented by the Aztecs thousands of years ago. The maize is finely ground and then dried and sieved to form a flour. It is gluten and GMO free, and can be used to make corn tortillas, tamales, sopes, pupusas, gorditas, empanadas and many more Mexican dishes.

I used this to make Sopes for a party and it was a great success. The flour is easy to work with and has a great corn flavour. Looking forward to trying more authentic Mexican dishes!

Very disappointed. Listing said shelf life is 9 months but what they shipped only has a couple months left. The date sticker is not shown on their photo. I don't eat that many tacos. Had the expiration date been published, I would not have purchased this item. Certainly not at full price.
