Measurement Cups

Hi Sarah & Yuppie Chef thank you for this wonderful opportunity! I can't wait to start. My question relates to my constant frustration with measuring ingredients. Many recipes I have call for measurements in grams as opposed to millimetres. I find that having to constantly look up conversion tables that are sometimes not clear, very frustrating and takes the joy out of my passion for baking. As such I have been searching all over for measuring cups & spoons in grams and am even more frustrated that no retail or speciality stores appear to stock them. Are you able to point me in the right direction please?

Thank you for your time and assistance.

Kind Regards

Jessy

I don't know if something like that is available because I know that when I use a recipe that measures by weight that different ingredients might have the same measurement (eg 1 cup of sugar, 3 cups of flour) but when using the weight measurement then a 1 cup of a certain ingredient won't be the same weight as 1 cup of a other ingredient. But if something like what you looking for exists, then Yuppiechef will know.

Hi Jessy,

I understand your frustration. Before I acquired a kitchen scale, I had to look up conversions between grams and cups. But such conversion ratios are approximate at best. It is much easier and more accurate to measure your dry ingredients by weight rather than volume. For instance, 1 cup loosely packed sugar is not the same amount as 1 cup densely compacted sugar.

I would recommend that you buy a kitchen scale and rather go with the weight measurements.
