Unsealed butter ,can it be substituted ?
I bake very often and my recipes are always asking for unsalted butter ,however I hardly ever have it in my fridge . I always have to make that dreaded trip to the shop. Can unsalted butter be substituted ? It would make my life a whole lot easier.

Did you mean salted butter. If so yes it can be used instead of unsalted butter. Just adjust the salt in the recipe by subtracting about 2g per 1kg of the mixture (the total mixture quantity can be calculated by adding all of the ingredients together per weight OR volume-do not make the mistake of mixing weight and volumes hehe). I have however found that the amount of salt added to most commercial South African butters do not really make a difference in baking-and sometimes do not subtract salt from the recipe. So yes they are interchangeable most of the time, otherwise just subtract some salt from the total mixture =) Hope this helps
Yes it can. It makes no difference.
I bake very often and I never bother with buying the unsalted butter. I always have salted in the fridge and I use that with no problems at all.
