Expresso cake smells full of butter

Hi,

I cooked expresso cake for 25 minutes.
After cooking cake was moist .I could just smell butter in it .It was sort of an oily food .Butter and self raising flour was same quantity.Can you please help me out in this .

Hi there, I would suggest using sunflower oil instead of the butter. I always find that the texture of the cake done in this way is always fluffier but denser in that nice kind of way. If you do this, the conversion is the same. Also, remember that when using a liquid, like the oil or melted butter, you need to use a method called the muffin method, which means that you mix until it is just well combined, this means less air is added to your cake, and that's a definite YES!:)

Hi ,

Thanks a lot for the reply .By adding oil the cake batter consistency changes .How about the cooking time ?
