Cake only rising in the middle

the last 2 times i baked a cake, it did not rise on the sides and only the middle. The sides stays the same hight as when I pour the raw mixture in the pan, yet the middle rises very high. WHAT AM I DOING WRONG , please help

It sounds like your oven could be conducting heat too quickly, which causes the sides to cook faster and forces the middle to rise up. Perhaps try experimenting with baking a cake at a slightly lower temperature to what the recipe suggests, for a longer time period. For example, drop the heat by 10 degrees and bake it for 5 - 10 minutes longer. It'll require a little trial and error, but once you find the sweet spot for your oven, it should be smooth sailing.
