I waited a long time to get this grinder, seeing the difference vs my previous model (also burr grinder) is incredible - worth the expensive price tag. Don't think too much, just get one - it will change how you see coffee beans

First: I like the Rancilio so much that this is the second time I have purchased it. The reason for the second purchase is that first one was for 110 V and does not work here with 240 V.

I am very pleased with the Rancilio coffee grinder. It is the closest thing to a professional/commercial grinder. At about 55 mm diameter, the burrs do not have to move fast and therefore the coffee is not heated (as much) during the grinding process. The Rancilio can be set to extremely fine particle size (for more efficient extraction of the coffee; I prefer mine to be well below 200 micron (0.2 mm), the standard size for espresso. I grind my coffee to about 30 micron (0.03 mm) and use a paper filter. The Rancilio does that with ease and with the ground coffee only luke warm.

The only criticism I have is the coffee hopper (where the whole beans are put into the machine). The feed has a tendency to "block", i.e., the beans jam and prevent the coffee from entering the grind chamber. I use a bamboo skewer to unblock it. Read more

This grinder is a replacement for the built-in grinder in my Breville Barista Express. It looks good, very solid construction and by all accounts should last a long time. I've only used it for espresso thus far, so grinding on the finer end of the spectrum, and the grind is more consistent than the Breville ever was, I notice a more nuanced, subtle flavour in coffee I have drunk for ages. I've yet to grind beans for pour-over or Aeropress, but I have no doubt this grinder will handle that with ease. Some reviews cite the fact that it's a stepped grinder (rather than offering infinite, fine adjustments) as a negative, but thus far I have not seen that as a negative, as I can finesse my shot via dosage or tamp pressure. A brilliant grinder. None of the issues that some reviewers noted in the USA was present - no looseness of burr mounts or movement at all. Grinds a brilliant espresso! Good value for money and a well-built machine.

Produces the level of grind I need for my espresso - personally, I prefer this non-doser model for personal use.

Very happy with this grinder - may be the best in this price range, you get what you pay for even if it has limited features compared to more expensive or commercial grinders.

Obviously suits the Silvia very well too!
