Each knife in the Gude Alpha Olive Series starts as a single piece of specially alloyed steel, beginning with hand forging and continuing through more than forty separate steps in the production process before completion. The grip scales are crafted from very hard olive wood which resists moisture and exhibits a beautiful grain, giving each knife a unique elegance.

Now this is a bread knife
This is simply a stunning bread knife. You can just feel the quality with the double bolster, wooden handle and super sharp cutting edge. Finally it is possible to cut artisan bread without having to stand the bread upright as the blade of a normal bread knife is not long enough. It is also quite the conversation piece.

A revelation
I used a friend's over the weekend and had an epiphany around what a good bread knife is supposed to feel like. The weight of it is incredible in easily gliding through various loaf types with zero strain. So neat, so pleasing.

Ready to tackle any bread.
I must admit I was surprised at the size of the knife but don't let that put you off. It's beautifully crafted, sits comfortably in the hand, and wields a lot of power. It's deeply serrated and I'm sure it will last a lifetime if it's looked after well. Slicing bread has never been easier.
