We bought once this product, and after a few months it started leaking at the seam just above the switch. Yuppiechef kindly replaced it. One year down the line, the same problem reappeared on the new kettle. So the defect must be common. This is a beautiful-looking kettle, but spending over R2,000 for something that breaks so easily is nothing short of a fraud. Do yourself a favour, stay away from this terrible SMEG kettle. This is a kettle with an attitude 😄I just love it. The handle is a proper handle, the spout wastes no water, the water boils so quickly, to me it's the best buy I have ever made.

I’m very disappointed that after spending so much money on this kettle, the letters are peeling. What is SMEG doing about this? The toaster looks beautiful, why didn’t they use the same letters?

I am in love with my kettle. It is not only pretty, it is also very sturdy, and works very well - boils quickly. The swivel base is very practical, as is the option for tucking in the cord under the base. Some might say it is expensive, but I plan on having this kettle for quite a while!

Although, there are so many kettles available in the market, we decided on the SMEG because of our excellent experience with other SMEG kitchen appliances. We recently installed a new kitchen with a French country theme and the new kettle fits into it beautifully! As for functionality and day to day use it is brilliant too.

The products are excellent - but this kettle provided us with a "metal" taste with our coffee. As we use it - still new - it is getting better! The toaster, however, is amazing!!

Those were the words of my 14-year-old son! Not only does it look like a space shuttle, but it functions like only the best high technology does.
It is beautiful but more importantly, it is ergonomically friendly! It fits just right – in your hand and on the "platform". It handles easily because it is exceptionally well balanced. The kettle pours like a dream without messing a drop.

It is difficult to see the water level behind the handle.
The opening mechanism of the lid is suspect. It has been replaced once because of this!

Love the quality workmanship that went into the making of this product. Easy to use and beautiful too!

A big thanks to the YUPPIECHEF team for their excellent service. They happily exchanged my mint Smeg kettle for the pastel blue one, after I just couldn't bond with the mint! And they went the extra mile and had it delivered to my door with a personalized note!

I coveted this kettle for a long time particularly since I have the Smeg toaster. I’m a bit disconcerted by the square base as it takes a while to ensure that the kettle sits properly.
And it’s not so easy to read the water level. However, I do like the fact that it’s so silent. Overall I’m happy.

Absolutely beautiful. The design is simple yet so very attractive, It looks vintage and contemporary at the same time. The water level indicator at the back is very useful. I love how it softly hums while heating up. Everything I expected from a Smeg appliance.

Goes with out saying SMEG is the best quality, what needs to be said is the outstanding service received from YuppieChef, the small touches is how it was packaged to reach us in tip top condition, to the constant feed back on how the order was progressing. A great looking kettle that looks very cute but actually very cheaply built.

The handle is plastic and so is the base (not stainless steel) and within 4 months the vinyl colour lifted and bubbled.

The lid also often doesn’t pop open with the button and has to be manually lifted, not a train smash but definitely not what you would expect at this price point.

I’d say go for the metal option, looks very cheap when the colour bubbles. Read more

CHEAP & NASTY.

I've bought 4 Smeg Kettles over the past few years (You'd think I would learn!!) - the first one, the paint-work bubbled and peeled off after a couple of months and the lettering fell off... I took it back to SMEG and after some time they agreed it was faulty manufacturing and replaced it...

2nd & 3rd I bought for home and my holiday cottage (which gets used 6-8 weeks a year)... The one for home started leaking badly and on taking it back to SMEG they said it was past its year guarantee and they could not repair it!

I begrudgingly accepted their excuse and was offered a discount to get another (not much of a discount mind you!)...

Well, surprise surprise both the new one and the one from my beach cottage are now leaking and all from exactly the same place... We had friends staying in our cottage who did not think to place the kettle on a dishcloth and the water ran down the counter onto my cupboards and drawers doing over R10 000 damages ..(fortunately insurance covered)...

My one at home is also leaking and has now been replaced by a Le Creuset, not as retro/pretty as the SMEG but I think after four attempts I would need to be the village idiot not to realise the quality of these products is CHEAP, NASTY and CERTAINLY NOT WORTH THE R3000+ they charge!!

I read many reviews on this product before I bought it. I have loved my Kitchenaid kettle, but it's 12 years old and needs replacing.

The new kettles they have don't come in the new colour of my kitchen, so I looked across other brands. I have an SMEG oven I love, so I decided to try it.

I have owned the SMEG Kettle now for a while and I can say I love it. It is quiet, quicker than my old kettle and has that gorgeous retro style I was hoping for.

I must be honest, I really did not need a new kettle! But as happens quite regularly I indulge in my Yuppiechef shopping addiction (YSD)! So when I saw this kettle I just had to have it. I am so glad I did.
Its funky design and lovely red colour puts a smile on my face first thing every morning making my cuppa! Oh, even better, it boils super quick and is very quiet!
