Two things make this better than normal peelers. First, it is bidirectional, so twice the work with the same movement. Secondly, it is serated, so my potatos come out with a ridged surface, so they tend to slip less.

I have always preferred straight blades rather than serrated so the idea of a serrated peeler was strange to me. Trusting Victorinox as a brand I decided to take a chance. I was very pleased. It works really well and leaves a funky line pattern behind. My next aim is to see if those lines are deep enough to score potatoes for roasting.
