So, who or what is Yuppiechef?
The short version
Yuppiechef was founded in 2006 by two good friends and we’re currently based at bright and bustling premises in Cape Town. We believe great kitchen tools change the way you cook and that people sitting down to eat together is a good thing. While working hard to offer a delightful online shopping experience we stop regularly to smell the roses, eat biscuits and dress up for breakfast. If you’d like to be a part of our world just tune in, there’s always room for one more.
The long version
Our story starts in the leafy metropolis of Pietermaritzburg, South Africa where Yuppiechef’s founders, Andrew and Shane, grew up. On finishing school, they head to Cape Town and set up a web agency together. While selling their time, Andrew and Shane dream of selling a product instead and start experimenting with building e-commerce sites. A chat with a chef, a Cuisipro light bulb moment, a pink cookie cutter dream and some luck with an expired domain lead to an exciting new venture and in August 2006 Yuppiechef.com is born.
Paul, an independent designer and school friend of Andrew’s, returns from London and joins as the third Yuppiechef director in 2009 . A good few years, two office moves, one pink monkey and an exciting journey later, Yuppiechef is SA’s leading e-commerce store with a team of over fifty at our HQ in Westlake, Cape Town, South Africa.
