Product Info

Wonderbag's clever insulating properties allow food that has been brought to the boil to finish cooking while in the bag. This greatly reduces the use of additional energy. Made with colourful fabric and lined with a more resistant fabric, this bag includes a toggle for more convenient closing. The original Wonderbag is insulated with PU foam with a fire retardant solid foam base.

  • Heat Retaining Medium Slow Cooker
  • Ideal for outdoor activities and camping as it is portable, lightweight, and plug-free. Can be used to cook food, keep it warm, or even keep food and drinks cold
  • Cooks and keeps food hot for up to 8 hours
  • Significantly reduces a family's fuel usage by allowing food to finish cooking over a few hours after being brought to a boil, saving money and electricity
  • Repurposed chipped foam in the bag and its fuel-saving properties make it environmentally-friendly and sustainable
  • It reduces accidents and fire hazards in the kitchen as stoves are used less frequently
  • Reduces time spent cooking, providing more time for other activities.
  • Insulating a pot in a Wonderbag reduces evaporation, requiring less water for cooking
  • Features a Shwe-shwe print on the outside and inside, made from a strong and durable material blend
  • A portion of all proceeds goes to the Wonderbag Foundation, supporting Wonderfeasts and subsidizing Wonderbags for vulnerable and impoverished communities in Africa

Note: This product is not watertight, and if knocked over, the contents are likely to spill out. Let the Wonderbag work its magic away from children.

About Wonderbag

Voted one of the world's Top 50 Genius Companies by Time Magazine. Founded by Sarah Collins in 2008, the Wonderbag was developed as a solution to the South African energy shortage forcing blackouts across the country — with the aim of allowing families to continue cooking daily meals even with the absence of power. Inspired by a method her grandmother had used in the 1970s to help save power when cooking, this social enterprise is empowering communities around the world.

What with the price of electricity and frequent power shedding, I couldn't have hoped for a better item. So thrilled, I got one for my sister in Australia too :)

I would recommend this product to a friend.

The Wonderbag works really well. Be sure to bring your food to a good boil and put away in the Wonderbag. A couple of hours later you will have a lovely meal. Might need to warm to a good serving temperature. Tastes develop well and it gives you more free time away from cooking.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

I don't think this is as good as the old 'wonderboxes'
After 3-4 hours food isn't cooked properly, rice is stodgy, I don't know, should I be cooking it for longer than 4 hours?

I would not recommend this product to a friend.

The Wonderbag makes life so easy. You bring your food (grains, beans, whatever) to boil on the stove, pop it in the Wonderbag and forget about it. Until it's time to eat, that is. And then you open it up and take out your perfectly cooked food. It makes week night dinner a breeze. Plus, you save a lot of electricity.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

The wonderbag works wonderfully, especially for camping. Cooks rice and pasta beautifully, keeps food warm for a long time and makes an excellent chicken potjie. This is my 2nd bag that I buy, previously I bought the small bag.

I would recommend this product to a friend.
