I'm in two minds about this pan. These are my thoughts after owning it for a grand total of 10 days.
Pros:
Ridiculously non-stick. Each time I use it I am amazed at the non-stickyness of it. Scrambled eggs peel off like they are floating in space rather than frying in a pan. Omelettes are a dream to cook!
The angle of the sides makes it very easy to shake-and-flip fried veggies, mushrooms, steak strips, etc.
Cons:
It doesn't fit any lid. It's a 26cm Tefal pan but a 26cm glass lid from my old Tefal frying pan sits about 2cm from the bottom, stuck three quarters of the way down against the sides. I purchased a 28cm generic lid hoping that at least it would be big enough to hang over the sides at best. Nope, even a 28cm lid just fits the rim, but not well enough to have it fit snugly, it tends to slide off at the slightest movement.
The handle already has a slight wobble to it.
I have very serious concerns about the durability. I use it every morning for scrambling eggs and noticed recently that there are a bunch of tiny nicks on the rim in one particular spot. It took me a day or two of racking my brains as to how it happened. I don't use any metal implements and don't even tap a wooden spoon on the side to get food off the end. However, the nicks are exactly where I crack eggs every morning! If it's already starting to chip and nick from cracking an egg on the side daily I can't imagine what it will look like after 6 months of use.
Although the sides of the pan are perfectly angled to shake and flip when frying, you have to use a bendy silicone spatula when scrambling eggs as it's impossible to get a hard plastic/nylon spatula into the sides to scrape the scrambled eggs back into the bottom of the pan.
Final verdict - Would not buy again. Everyone needs a really good non-stick pan in the 24cm-28cm range as their go-to-pan in a kitchen and this just isn't it. I will still buy a Tefal again (just can't beat the non-stick!) but next time I'll rather buy the Duetto Stainless Steel (with the riveted handle) or even the Tefal Talent.
Poor form Tefal, poor form! Read more
I would not recommend this product to a friend.
