Inspiration for March

We are speeding through March but fear not, this is a good thing. Chocolates, doughnuts and Easter goodies await at the end of this tunnel and there are nectarines to be enjoyed and wine journeys to begin. Here are some tools, recipes and ideas that have us inspired for the month ahead.
Ideas for March

1. Homemade doughnuts
Ever thought about making your own doughnuts? With this Wilton Doughnut Pan, it’s pretty easy to whip up a batch and, as they are baked not fried, they are oil free. Dip them in chocolate or pipe in some jam. Oh, the delights of teatime.

2. Make your own chocolates
Believe it or not, Easter is nearly here. You might like to make your own chocolates with these Kaiser Chocolate Moulds – flavour them with your choice of essences, nuts or caramel and package them up for the Easter bunny.

3. Easter cutters
If you’re looking to keep your little people busy over the holidays, stamping out biscuits with some festive cutters is a good option.

4. Nectarines
Make the most of this juicy fruit while you can. We griddled ours on the Cobb and whacked them into a salad of rocket, watercress, prosciutto and almonds

5. Easter bunny napkin
We all know it’s near impossible to catch a glimpse of the Easter bunny but you can bring some bunny magic to your table with this clever napkin fold. Give it a go.

6. One a penny, two a penny, hot cross buns
Keep your eyes peeled on this Spatula Magazine shaped space for an easy peasy recipe for hot cross buns. Melted butter and a cup of tea? Yes please.

7.  Start your wine journey
You don’t have to be able to identify every grape, terroir or flavour note to enjoy wine but there are a few steps you can take to get the best out of your bottle. Michael Olivier, one of Cape Town’s wine gurus filled us in on the basics – here’s your wine tasting 101.

8. Who doesn’t like cheese?
Call your friends, chill the beer, boil potatoes and slice the cheese, it’s raclette time! This month we’re going to celebrate the melted beauty of cheese in the Severin Raclette – you just need a table and a plug point to feel like you are living it up in the Swiss Alps.

9. Make your own cheese
Did you know that it is possible to make your own cheese at home? Yes indeed. With these Mad Millie cheese kits, homemade mozzarella, ricotta and marscapone are ready and waiting.

10. Keep it cool
Now why didn’t we think of this? These ChillBalls take care of chilling your drinks, but since they don’t melt, you won’t be left with the watery dregs at the end. Intelligent ice. We like it.

What does March hold in store for you?
