3 easy pre-wedding beauty DIYs you can make in your kitchen
Many people think of your beauty products as something that should ideally be squeezed from a tube, but if you consider that you really are what you eat and that your skin is the largest organ in your body (or rather on), absorbing absolutely everything you come in contact with, then perhaps the best thing for your skin is a healthy dose of nutrient rich food.
These are some of my favourite food beauty tricks that you can easily enjoy at home for a luxurious day of unwinding while your skin becomes its best pre-wedding day self.
The coffee body scrub
A natural skin exfoliant that will leave your skin smooth and silky and ultra moisturised. All you need for this one is:
- A ‘puk’ of used coffee grinds (so after making coffee in your Aeropress, or brewing it in a moka pot or French Press, simply store the grinds)
- 2 Tbsp of quality olive oil
- A drop of vanilla extract or ½ tsp of vanilla powder
- 1 Tbsp of brown sugar
Mix it all together and store in a small preserving jar. Then simply use as a shower scrub when your skin needs a pick me up. Trust me, you’ll never buy body scrub again.
The turmeric face mask
If you’re like most people you’re probably going to run screaming from this one, but wait. Turmeric has been a beauty ingredient for centuries and unless you’re making a concentrated batch and sleeping in it, really won’t stain your skin. I’ve personally tried this recipe for a healing turmeric face mask several times and never once ended up looking like a yellow smartie. But if you’re concerned, use a thin layer or test a small area of skin before you become convinced by the miracle powers of this spice.
You can make this face mask really easily with your stick blender.
The easiest lemon honey face mask
Here’s another one that you can practically make in your sleep and one of my absolute best. The lemon honey face mask, works particularly well for oilier skin or uneven skin tone and, when used regularly will leave your skin radiant (and your make-up artist will thank you too).
I’m always delightfully surprised by how pure, simple food can come to the rescue, creating balance when you need it most. Enjoy these easy beauty DIYs and here’s hoping some more time in the kitchen, but with a slightly different agenda, helps you to feel relaxed and your loveliest self come your big day.
