The unit looks good and carbonates water well BUT despite using Sodastream 450ml bottles to carbonate water, there seems to be no automatic shut-off or indicator that the bottle is carbonated. I am not brave enough to hold the button until it explodes or the cut off hopefully kicks in.
In addition the Sodastream Champion plastic/acrylic bottles used are not dishwasher safe and this from a product sold in 2018??

It's a great money saver as opposed to buying sparkling water but it could be a lot more user-friendly. I might buy it again, after a demonstration and seeing there was a working cut-off. Read more

This is a complete waste of money. I bought it because of the great reviews, but my experience is that it doesn't work. You have to hold the button to make bubbles for a long time and it doesn't make enough fiz after 5 mins. I only had 2 bottles of water now it looks like the gas is finished, it needs to be refilled. I truly regret this purchase!

A reasonably priced product producing a very fizzy consistency . The instructions have no text only diagrams so experienced a little difficulty in installing the gas cylinder as I was trying to screw it in the wrong way but eventually sorted it out. Excellent prodcut.

I always bought Sparkling Water at +-R46.00 for 6 small bottles. Will be saving a lot of moola soon AND I don't run out :) Also doing my bit for going green :)

Easy to use.. I’d recommend getting some extra bottles and keeping one cold in the fridge... then make soda with the cold water. Also, there is no gauge on this specific one so you have to estimate how sparkly the water is.
Otherwise works great!

The differences between the new design and the ones I used as a kid (with the small twirly bottles) did take a little getting used to, but it looks good and works well.

I upgraded to a new Sodastream as my old one was ugly and I wanted something stylish for the kitchen. Sadly this machine is not nearly as good looking in real life. It’s really pretty plasticky and cheap looking. It works the same as the previous models so really can’t see the benefit of this model.

The instructions for this product are very vague. I couldn't get the fizz in the water at all. My husband also tried to no avail. I thought it was faulty and was about to return it when I went on google and found a great video which solved my problem. Getting lovely soda water now.

Works easily and the red machine is an attractive addition to our kitchen. Takes some experimenting to find the preferred level of fizziness. Would be perfect if only the bottles could be washed in the dishwasher.

I really think that the product itself is great and works well. This will save us in the long run with all the sparkling and soda water we buy.

It was a pity that this took way too long for delivery. Item did state that it was in stock at the time of placing the order. I was kept in the loop about the delivery which I did appreciate but the supplier should have done something as a token appreciation towards the patience I had with regards to the delay. Read more

This is a brilliant way to reduce single-use plastics use. In the first month alone I calculated that we had not added about 10 1.5 liter plastic bottles to the recycling bin.

If you are new to a sodastream machine (as I was), it does take a little trial-and-error to develop a fizzing routine which works for you. Google helped! But once you've got it sussed, it is definitely work the investment, if not for your health (we've switched to mostly water) then for the environment. Read more

This is an excellent product, and a solution to having sparkling water without the unnecessary use of plastic.

However the major problem and reason for my rating is trying to find gas bottle refills. We have struggled for the past 3 months to get refills anywhere in Cape Town.

Sodastream is still marketing it on Facebook with no mention of having absolutely no stock of refills, and there is no other option available that I have been able to find.

This situation makes what is an excellent product useless as refills are so difficult to find. Read more

i bought the soda stream as a gift to a friend. - she loves it and especially loves the fact that she can have fizzy water whenever she wants it, without having to buy bottles constantly and she doesn't contribute to the huge problem of putting plastic into the rubbish dump, even if it does go into the recycle bin, it is still a lot of plastic!

I love this machine, when it works. Unfortunately finding any where in Cape Town with stock of the 60L refill canisters is almost impossible.

Sodastream has a constant shortage of cylinders around the country, I last found a refill 4 months ago. Queries to Sodastream SA just get you an apology but no solution or explanation.

Sorry I just can't recommend anyone buys this machine.

No more wasting plastic bottles for me! I can make my own soda water and never run out. Magical product, and so easy to use! Would recommend every household have one.

The spirit Sodastream is really easy to assemble and quick to use, providing one with sparkling water at the touch of a button. The amount of fizz is regulated by the number of 'blasts' you give the water. No need to run out of sparkling water this lockdown....

The product works well for sparkling water, but the overall feel is light and a lot of plastic. If aesthetics are important for you, it may be worth spending the extra money and getting another brand for example the Aarke polished steel sparkling water maker.

This is our second unit, great value seeing that it includes a FULL gas cylinder and 1 water bottle. Lovely gift option, various cordials to choose from with quite a few sugar free options. I live in the Karoo, ordered it on Monday at 13h00 and received the item on Tuesday at 14h00 - super fast service from ordering to delivery.
