Looks aren't everything

I wanted to LOVE this blender and the iconic, attractive Smeg design almost sold me but on first attempts at smoothie making, it was sadly disappointing. Simple to operate with the basic multiple speeds and pulse option you get on every blender but I quickly found the blades to be pretty inefficient; even after a stop-and stir, leaving fruit remnants unreachable and unblended at the bottom of the Read more

I have owned my fair share of smoothie makers in my life time, so I am confident to say that the SMEG is by far the worst. The blades don't reach far enough to the sides and into the bottom of the jug, so the ingredients get "stuck" around the spinning blade, which creates a cavity. So it can cope with very liquid stuff but not thick smoothies (sadly).

The first thing I noticed when I opened the box was that while it proclaimed DESIGNED IN ITALY, a smaller line below that said Made in PRC. It didn't take me long to figure out that PRC stood for the People's Republic Read more

Looks good, but is it efficient?

Good ole Smeg expanding their range to the good ole home blender. While this product is a tad expensive (it is just a blender after all) it does work well. The speeds and strength are very good and it is easy to dismantle the jug from the base. It does need quite a bit of liquid to whiz up a smoothie though - and will leave bits at the bottom if it doesn't have enough. The middle/inner lid is NOT Read more
