The best features of this scale is that it can be used either for kilograms or pounds and ounces. The second good feature is the tare option. It is not very big but you can place your container on the surface. It will tell you how much the container weighs. You can then press the tare button, fill the container with whatever you are weighing until the correct amount is shown. No need for mental arithmetic.
However, it's biggest problem is that you cannot move the scale just before you want to use it, e.g. take it out of storage. You need to get it in place some time beforehand. It does not like to be moved around! Read more

I feel like a child with a new toy. This is my first digital scale and I'm loving it! I have worked with a manual scale for years and just realised what I have been missing out on all this time.

Badly assembled, poor quality. Avoid!

I was thrilled with this scale at first... it looks good, and it worked fine. What a bargain it seemed to be.
However, within just two months, it became unreliable, giving an error on the screen that read "Unst" (meaning 'unstable' maybe?). I repositioned it, trying again and again. I bought new batteries. It still didn't work.
Given that it was no longer a viable product, I opened up the casing to take a look inside, and found the problem.
The factory where it's assembled is obviously taking shortcuts, not feeding the connecting wires through the channels designed to house them. Rather than feeding the wires through these channels, all wiring is stuffed on top of these channels, and fastened with a small piece of masking tape, before screwing the housing closed. This means that the plastic housing is constantly pressing against the wires that connect the board with the four weight sensors, effectively crimping them.
Placing any object on the scale puts pressure on the sharp plastic ridges of the housing, which slowly cuts the internal wires over time.
So, the problem that I was experiencing was from the wires gradually being crimped. The very act of weighing an item was causing my scale to fail!
Yuppiechef, please remove this item from your site. Shoddy manufacturing means that this scale and others like it are destined to reach landfill much sooner than they should. It's seems environmentally irresponsible to keep selling these.
The product may have been designed with integrity by Mellerware's engineers, but shoddy assembly and poor quality control means that it's just not the reliable product that it should be.

Great product. looks good. Works well and very accurate. The build quality (especially the buttons) could be better considering the price; but it seems to be strong thus far. I really like the option to change between kilograms, grams, pounds and ounces.

Having looked at the reviews, I thought this product would work as described despite the affordable price — alas, it barely worked when turned on, it chows batteries and the button functionality did nothing despite numerous attempts.

I am not entirely convinced about the accuracy of this scale, but I have not tried to calibrate it either. What I don't like is that the writing next to the display panel wiped off in less than a month. I only used a damp cloth on the scale, no cleaning agents, but now the "ware" has gone from the scale.

I used my scale for the first time yesterday and I was amazed how easy it was to change between pounds and ounces and kilograms. It was also easy to use the tare facility when I used a dish on the scale to weigh out the mince that I was using to make burgers.

I love this scale! It is sleek in design and easy to store. It is my first digital scale and I love the fact that you can switch between kilograms, pounds or ounces etc. The tare button is also really useful when weighing in a container.

Great for weighing small amounts and the Tare function is great, meaning I can pour ingredients straight into a mixing bowl. It also shuts itself off automatically to save batteries. Easy to clean as well.

Fantastic product, no more mental maths because of the tare function – and you can weigh the smallest items. It does not take up a lot of space and is easy to clean. It is an absolute must-have.

This scale is fantastic- it works really well and has a nice reset to zero button every time you put In an ingredient. Also the batteries are normal AAA so it lasts long! Highly recommend this scale, as well as it being affordable.

This scale works very well, I cannot fault it on anything, it's small and easy to store in a cupboard.
It does exactly what it should, in kg and lb. What I especially like is that you can put your own bowl on it, turn the scale to 0 with the push of a button, and then add your e.g butter.
I would definitely recommend this scale and for the price, 5 stars.

Altough I like this scale, I do however feel that the hole at the top of the scale interferes with the weighing of product. Think the hole should not be raised as it is. Overall, I am enjoying this scale and feel it is worth it.

This scale works easily and accurately, however, mine lasted a full 3 months before breaking :( One day it just started saying "unstable" and nothing I did could resolve this. I had to return the item to Yuppiechef who then had to return it to Mellerware. I will not buy a Mellerware item again as, after googling the product, its seems to be a very common problem. On the bright side - Yuppiechef was of great assistance in the whole matter :) Read more

I weigh my dog's food 3 times a day and need the accuracy that this scale gives me.
I always used 2 bowls as her bowl would not fit but now I can weigh her food with her bowl on it - so convenient.
