KitchenCraft Enamel Covered Butter Dish

This is a great butter dish as butter dishes go. Not that I have owned or used a multitude of butter dishes, mind you.

This butter dish holds a brick of butter like a champ, looks good while doing it, and doesn't seem too pretentious about it either.

I haven't thrown it across the kitchen to test how hardy it is as this seems a bit excessive, but it feels sturdy and tough enough to scare some of the weaker butter dishes on the fridge playground.

I was so excited to finally find such a lovely butter dish that holds a 500gm block of butter! Alas though.. there isn't a high enough ridge on the base to hold the block of butter in place.. hence you actually need to hold onto the butter (a rather greasy affair) when using as it slips around all over the place! Such a small design flaw, but sadly has a huge practical impact :(

I am very disappointed with this product. What a waste of money. The "lip" around the butter is much too low. Should definitely have been higher.

I love the appearance of the butter dish.

There is no problem with the lid but for some reason, the bottom tray is an inferior quality enamel and I am pessimistic about its durability.

Not what I expected for the price.

If you are looking for something perfect, this is not it. Enamel is rough and imperfect and that's part of its nature. You have to embrace its imperfection! I like the look in my country kitchen and it works like a butter dish is supposed to work. One thing I would change is to have the wording on the dish completely centered.

I join in with everyone who says this butter dish comfortably fits a 500g block of butter and what a pleasure that is. No more struggling and trimming the edges of the butter to fit the dish. It’s gorgeous to look at and the enamel complements my country kitchen perfectly! I love the way the lid just goes over the butter and you don’t have to clip or seal anything. This dish reminded me of my childhood on the farm, there was always soft butter in a similar butter dish, this was ready to spread on the warm freshly baked bread. I love it! My grandchildren will also remember this butter dish on Gran's breakfast table when they grow up.

So many butter dishes on the market that only fit 250g, so was excited to finally find a dish that would take 500g. I love the rustic, farmhouse style and the natural imperfections that you get with enamel.

This is a high-end, heavyweight, quality butter dish that not only looks exceptionally good but also does the job it promises to do - i.e. it comfortably contains a 500g block of butter. That's no small feat, let me tell you. I have been searching for such an accommodating butter dish for several years!

This replaces a previous, similar but porcelain butter dish that had a cracked base. The enamelled metal construction means not having to worry about that happening again; this one will last a lifetime. The ridge in the base helps keep the block of butter in place when scraping some off and also makes sure that nothing like dust can get in.

I'm so happy to find a butter dish that fits a whole 500g block of butter. It is slightly inconvenient not having the top and bottom able to lock together, and the butter slides around on the base a bit as there is no demarcated area for the butter to sit, but overall I am very happy indeed.

I was so disappointed. I love enamelware and had been looking for a butter dish for a while. However, the design doesn't work for me.

Covering the whole block of butter with a lid means that the butter bashes against it as you lift it and smears everywhere - on the inside of the lid, in the grooves at the bottom. It is unsightly and wasteful.
