How do I successfully remove baking paper from the bottom of the cake after baking?
I usually bake using a springform pan. It is essential to use baking paper otherwise it is impossible to remove the cake from the pan without turning it upside down. This is especially an issue for me when making things such as cheesecakes or delicate cakes or tarts that cannot be turned upside down to remove the baking paper. An example is a beautiful lemon tart, or chocolate brownie cake that is double baked with meringue on top. It is usually tricky enough to slide the cake and paper off the spring form bottom.
I always end up with a beautiful creation on a cake plate, that has the baking paper underneath it still. It makes it difficult to cut, and simply looks messy and unprofessional.
please help - I know there must be someone out there who has a magic trick.

Hi Julia
Your baked creations sound delicious!
Have you tried greasing the baking paper on both sides with a non-stick spray? It may help with separating the paper from the cake or tart.
Using a thin metal scraper or lifter may help with transferring your baked goods and possibly assist with the paper situation too. There is a Wilton one here: http://www.yuppiechef.com/wilton-baking-accessories.htm?id=7331&name=Wilton-Cake-Lifter-and-Pizza-Peel and a Sweetly Does It one here: http://www.yuppiechef.com/sweetly-does-it-cake-tools.htm?id=12455&name=Sweetly-Does-It-Stainless-Steel-Cake-Lifter-25cm
Hope this helps!
Take care
