Bialetti Moka Express Espresso Maker

We are really enjoying our Bialetti Moka Express. The 6 cup is perfect for two espresso cups or two cappuccinos with foam. I will most certainly invest in a 12/18 cup so that we can brew a pot when friends come over.

Great little machine which works very well! Maybe should have got the 6 cups as the 4 cup is definitely espresso size cups... no more instant coffee and hikes and camping trips which is ideal!

One can buy cheap replicas of the Moka Express that are an absolute rip off. Poor quality that is inconsistently producing coffee. Glad I found Yuppychef who delivered my favorite Moka Express punctually.

Bought for my love, who loves expresso! Couldn't afford a machine but this seems like the perfect replacement.

Well now, he's using it everyday because it's as easy as putting on the kettle with great taste and aroma. I recommend buying a bigger size like the 6 cup as the 2 cup is a little too small for 2 peeps.

I have been waiting to buy one of these for a while now and I must say that it has definitely been worth the wait. I hadn't used one before but everyone just raves about them. My brother-in-law actually has a 10 cup one for when he goes camping.

These pots are absolutely amazing! I have quite a number of the Bialetti pots and my experience has been great. It is far more forgiving with respect to different kinds of beans - even when your beans are a bit dry the pot will still finish the brew. All round an excellent choice! Happy brewing. PS: Just don't put them in the dishwasher... this purchase is to replace the one I ruined. :-)

My wife had the fabulous notion of buying the 6 cup Bialetti for my birthday.

Simply questioning whether or not I would recommend this product to a friend does not even begin to scratch the surface of my love for my Bialetti. Perhaps giving me the option to tick whether or not it has redefined coffee at home would be more suitable; in which case, yes! Yes, it has.

If you love coffee and you're still brewing over the flawless traditional quality of the Bialetti vs. a modernised, sad, cheaper alternative, just stop. Save yourself the possible disappointment and get the Bialetti.

This is a product I use everyday. I already have the 3, 4, 6cupper espresso makers already and thought I will give this giant a try (for when I have guests or feel like a lot of coffee). Generally, I prefer Bialettis over other espresso makers because it is the original and historically the first espresso kettle ever made; I can control how strong I want it by putting more or less coffee and mixing it water after the espresso is made; the original taste of the beans and its fragrance is kept which I like, because I am a coffee/tea snob :)
I like this product (9 cupper) and my worries of being less effective because it's so big are gone and am so happy to use this alongside my 3 and 6 cuppers. If you don't have any other sizes, It won't be a problem. 3 cupper may be a bit small, mix with water or milk (1/2 a mug of espresso), perfect for cuppaccino or latte for one person. 6 cupper is a full mug size, you can drink cappuccino for two. These Bialetti's are for people who enjoy great coffee, but are not willing to break the bank for one of those fancy barista machines. It makes an excellent brew - very easy to use. You need about 3 shots for a good Americano. I.e. a 12 cup Bialetti will leave you with 4 Americanos. The only downside is that you have to buy a smaller one (for coffee on your own) and a bigger one for visitors.

There is no other way to make coffee. The only thing is, given the size it may be too small for your gas hob - this was the case with ours. We resolved this by purchasing the KitchenCraft Gas Ring Heat Reducer - Unfortunately, we couldn't really enjoy our Espresso Maker until then! But once we were able to, we were thrilled.

Happy with my moka pot. It's a bit of an experiment to get the quantities and grind just right, but that's part of the fun. I don't get tired of watching the treacle-like coffee siphon up into the pot. The 6 cup pot makes enough espresso for two decent americanos. I pour it into two small preheated mugs and top them up with a little extra boiling water. Delicious, clean tasting and flavourful.

This big Moka pot feeds our coffee habit beautifully! We grind medium roast coffee beans for our breakfast brew and have big mugs of cafe au lait. Highly recommended for those addicts like us who need a good second helping, and love the extra flavour of expresso coffee!

The lid doesn't close properly. I had another one which I bought about 8 months ago and it rusted, now this one I replaced it with have a lid that doesn't close properly. Just think this brand needs to relook their product quality.

The moka pot works really well and the coffee tastes really good. My only critic or advise for others is that the portion size of each cup is basically shot cup size (and I mean single shot, not double), so I struggle to make enough coffee for 2 people with the 3 cup pot. Personally I wish I bought a larger cup size :-)

Very tasty coffee. One tip is to preheat the bottom chamber with hot water. This prevents the coffee grounds from getting that burnt flavour. And also use the right grind for a moka pot, or else it will under or over extract. All-in-all great product.

Not sure why I waited so long to get one of these. It makes brilliant, strong coffee. Not true espresso, but a very, strong, flavourful cup of coffee. I put preheated water up to the bottom of the valve and once it starts gurgling, I take it off the heat and pour cold water on the bottom part to stop the brewing process. This "6 cup" moka makes me one large mug of strong coffee or two Americanos. Read more

As a first timer, using a stovetop coffee maker, it was a challenge as there are a multitude of different ways to prepare and enjoy your cuppa.
It is worth experimenting, the taste of your coffee will be amazing. I also have a pour over and the difference is remarkable.
One piece of advice, buy a size larger than you planned on.

This has allowed me to drink coffee the way I like it again. I wasn't sure about which size to take but opted for the 3-cup version, which equates to one normal cup with a lot of milk in (so it worked out well for me, as this is how I'm drinking my coffee).

Decided to get the authentic Bialetti Moka pot after my cheapie lost its handle. Quite disappointed. The pot leaks water when it gets under pressure (no matter how tight you screw it). It also leaks coffee grains back into the water chamber which is evident when you clean it. None of this happened with my previous cheapie. Nonetheless, if none of that bothers you, it still makes good coffee. Expected more at the price though. Read more

Great little espresso maker! I have the 4 cup Venus and needed something a bit smaller. This is a perfect daily espresso maker that does the job well. It fits into my gas stove hob burner cap nicely.

Does not sit on the smallest burner plate on a gas Smeg stovetop. Falls off and spills. Please find out the dimensions before buying. Nice product, but do your homework! They will not accept an exchange because I used it. However, I had to try it out not knowing they did not build it to fit certain stovetops even though are both Italian made companies. Stars are not for fully for the product but for lack of help with Yuppiechef. Read more

Our first Moka pot, works as advertised — the build quality is excellent and feels like it should last a long time. Cleaning it is a bit of a hassle but it's worth it for the great coffee.

This is my first “coffee brewer/machine” and I’m not disappointed! It’s the best product ever for coffee lovers. The smell of coffee fills the house and wakes up the rest of the household.

My only suggestions (positive ones only) would be to 1. Use freshly ground coffee (whether they grind it in front of you or get a grinder) and 2. Drink away!!

Oh and also wash it regularly, that “layer of coffee for flavour” is just dirt lol! Read more

The excellent extraction means that we're using less coffee than we did with our Aeropress and the flavour is superior to our DeLonghi bean-to-cup machine. The real McCoy for coffee purists!

A must-have for coffee lovers during loadshedding. For gas stove users, buy a KitchenCraft gas ring heat reducer for stability.

Also play around with coffee beans or ground coffee options, as you have to find the right beans for your taste buds.

I purchased mine three years ago from Yuppiechef and it is still going strong.

Very easy to care for. Do not wash it with soap just warm water and never bang the coffee out on something once you have used it — rather blow it out or wash it out. It can damage the filter piece.

I like strong coffee and this makes a good sized mug almost full, just leaving a cm or two of space to add a bit of milk. It's easy to use, easy to clean, and I can heat it up on a small hiking stove or in the kitchen at home. No Eskom required. I followed the instructions to a tee, before I brewed my first coffee to drink, and I believe it's important to do this. The coffee I made in this Bialetti tastes great. Can't wait to try some other blends, once the sample pack is used up. Read more

It's smaller than I initially thought. It was a gift for my partner, he had a cheap 4-cup one but I thought it was a 2-cup.

It's still awesome to use and the coffee comes out WAY better than the cheap one.
