How to use it: Red Espresso – ground rooibos

South Africa is full of the joys of nature, one of our favourites being rooibos tea. Strong and deeply red, rooibos is full of all sorts of antioxidants, can help improve circulation and can even relieve a sore tummy. So what happens when you intensify this incredible power? World, meet the hyper concentrated Red Espresso and see how to use it.

Red-Espresso-first

Red Espresso is made from high quality rooibos tea, ground to a consistency that is designed for using in exactly the same way as espresso ground coffee. It creates a concentrated shot of rooibos, perfect for a red cappuccino. It also, we discovered, makes the perfect French press. Interested? Read on.

How to use it:

  • Spoon the same amount of Red Espresso powder into the French press as you would if you were making coffee. For tips on how much to use, check out this article on how to get the most from your French press.
  • However, bear in mind that rooibos is a hardy leaf, and isn’t as sensitive as coffee grounds. You can make it with boiling hot water, and brew for as long as you like without making the resulting brew bitter or sour. The flavour will simply deepen and therefor produce a stronger tasting tea.
  • If you choose to use an espresso machine, the resulting shot will be thick, with a great crema. Drink as is, or add steamed milk for a red cappuccino.

Isn’t that amazing? Red espresso is definitely one of our drinks of choice at Yuppiechef HQ. Why not see how you can fit it into your lifestyle?
