How it works: Lékué Spill Prevention Lid

While we’ve tested the theory of how a watched pot never boils, we all know that the unwatched pot (particularly one full of rice) can boil over in that one moment in which you look away. So, next time you’re multitasking, let this clever Lékué Spill Prevention Lid watch the pot for you.

It’s made of flexible, heat resistant silicone so you can pop it onto a pot and leave it to keep everything under control.

How it works:

1. Bring a pot of water to the boil and pop in your pasta, rice or whatever you are cooking.
2. Put the spill prevention lid on top and carry on with the rest of your prep.
3. The centre of the lid is below the level of the rim, which plunges it below the level of the lip of the pot, while the open fins in the centre allow water to bubble up inside, preventing it from spilling over the sides.
4. Finish with any other tasks, safe in the knowledge that your pot will not boil over.
