Help the Soil for Life garden grow

Reach for the cutlery, water your basil plant and get your calendar ready. It’s time to Eat for the Earth! For the fourth year running our annual fundraiser, in support of local organisation Soil for Life, is taking place. Planning to eat a meal with friends during the month of June? Why not dedicate this one to World Environment Day and help the Soil for Life garden grow. Here’s how to take part in Eat for the Earth 2014.

Eat for the Earth 2014

1. Register a meal and invite some guests.
2. Host your meal anytime during the month of June.
2. Ask your guests to make a donation online in return for the meal.
3. Take photos and stand a chance to win Yuppiechef vouchers.

Last year there were teas, neighbourhood kids markets, dinners, bake-sales, soup evenings and a whole lot more! We’re looking forward to seeing what you all get up to this year. When you register you’ll also receive a free e-book on compost and natural fertilisers via email. Green thumbs up.

Once you’ve hosted your meal, ask guests to make a donation to help the Soil for Life garden grow (a watermelon, or golden prawn perhaps?).

Soil for Life make a wonderful contribution to the lives of many through training folks in less privileged areas to grow their own fresh food. In a country where heart disease, malnutrition and poverty are rife, having access to a healthy crop of food can be pretty vital. Last year Eat for the Earth meal donations came to R115,000 and it sure would be wonderful to hand Soil for Life a tasty cheque once again this year.

Head to Eat for the Earth to get involved and get in touch with us on eatfortheearth@yuppiechef.com if you have any questions or ideas.

Check out this video we made last year for Eat for the Earth if you’re keen to know more.

See you soon. Over and out.
