Heirloom recipes: got one to share?

When you think of heirlooms, what springs to mind? Your grandfather’s watch, a slightly chipped but glorious vase, a full set of the Encyclopedia Britannica, a gilded mirror… What about recipes? The ones handed down from your eccentric Italian uncle or wise Gogo, that take you right back to childhood and trigger instant déjà-vu in your kitchen?

We’ve been sharing our heirloom recipes at Yuppiechef HQ – check out Ali’s orange sponge, Marina’s rhubarb crumble and Mama and Louise Bailey’s crunchies – and have been enjoying it thoroughly. From the enthusiastic responses from many of you it seems we’re not the only ones for whom certain recipes hold a nostalgic heart spot. So, it’s over to you.

Send your heirloom recipe, 1 x photo of you cooking or baking it and a short explanation of why it’s special to you to [email protected] before 31 May 2012 and stand a chance to win one of ten Moleskine recipe journals for keeping your heirlooms well preserved.

We can’t wait to see what you all rustle up from memory lane (remember we need your heirloom by 31 May 2012 if you’d like to be in for a winning chance).
