Our Baking Challenge 2014 winners

When we set the Baking Challenge 2014 and asked you to bake for us, we could hardly have imagined the flood of sweet treats that would come our way from screens and homes near and far. You are all super stars and we are so proud of each and every one of you. Character cakes, fairy cakes, loaf cakes and ring cakes, by-the-book cakes and crazy but awesome flavour combinations – there’s nothing that gives us the warm fuzzies quite like you lot baking all over the world and all at the same time. To recap, we asked you to bake one of the three recipes in lesson 4 of The Art of Baking and send us a pic of you and your cake. With over 100 entries, you have set us quite a challenge to choose our grand prize winners but thanks to Sarah Graham, here they are. The grand prize winner is 14 year old Bethany Willcock (above), who baked and decorated (including the handmade fondant decorations) her cake for her grandmother’s birthday. Well, hop, skip, jump and sing from the rooftops, Bethany, because a KitchenAid Artisan Stand Mixer in Candy Apple is all yours as well as a years unlimited access to our Online Cooking School. Yeeha. We also couldn’t resist picking four more lucky runner-up winners. Audrey Glover who submitted two beautiful entries (above); Annesia Surajpal who baked her chocolate cake with her daughter; Dominique Wolters who has the most fabulous hat around;, and Jenna Fowler who baked a rainbow extravaganza. You too will receive a years unlimited access to our Online Cooking School and a R500 Yuppiechef voucher. As promised, all who entered will be sent a little something from us, so if you entered on Instagram, Twitter or Facebook (instead of emailing in your entry), please email us at [email protected] so we can send you your prize. If you emailed your entry, don’t worry – we have all the info we need. So here’s to baking, folks. Thank you.
