Product Information

A unique shape for today's modern cooking.

A traditional tatin recipe uses the tatin dish first on the hob to tenderise and caramelise ingredients, then you press a pastry over the ingredients and transfer the dish in the oven for baking. Turn the tart upside down before serving. All that you need for:

  • Making the original "apple tarte tatin" and other sweet & savoury tatin tarts, with the pastry base dry, light and crisp, and the top well caramelised
  • Baking gratins, quiches, tarts, cakes, crumbles
  • Sauteing vegetables
  • Roasting meat or poultry in the oven

What the Yuppiechefs say

The original Tarte Tatin recipe was the result of a mistake by the daughter of Jean Tatin, owner of L'Hotel Tatin in the Loire Valley. Instead of placing the apples inside a pastry shell, they were put in the dish first with the pastry on top. The tart had to be turned upside down before serving and the diners loved it!!! Now a modern classic!

"One baking dish with multi uses"

The dish is perfect and if you are going to make tarts then I can highly recommend that you get yourself one. It is an investment you will not regret. The dish is the perfect depth for a decent tart, and the handles make it easy to turn your tarts over. More than this, you can bake cakes in the dish and so it has a diversity of uses meaning you don't need a whole stack of cake tins in your cupboard. You can also use this dish to make quiches and as it is so beautiful, you can take it straight to the table for serving.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

"Great versatility"

Have to be honest, I bought this particular pan because a lot of the TV chefs that I like use it, but I see why now! This size is really handy and I love the way the enameled cast iron keeps all the flavour but never sticks. The best thing about it though is how easy the two handles make it to use. Fits in the oven with ease, no handles sticking out to knock over and my mother finds it easier to lift than single handled cast iron pans!

I would recommend this product to a friend.
